Hi mamas. About 11:00 this evening I was winding down watching the news & I heard a noise. It sounded like it was outside my house but I excused it as possibly my daughter. She was upstairs sleeping & it sounded like maybe she dropped a book (although, she should have been sleeping). I didn't think too much of it & went on watching the news. Anyhow, my husband left for work around 12:10 and found a splattered egg on the front porch. We don't have enemies (that I knew of). We keep to ourselves & have great neighbors. We don't, however, live on the best street. I mean, people aren't being stabbed or shot on it every day but it has it's fair share of stuff. Mainly at the other end of the street, which in all fairness, is only about 3/4 mile away. Anyhow, whoever threw this egg at my house either has the arm of a MLB pitcher or actually came into my yard to throw it. I feel so insulted and a little violated. I'm trying to not take it personally but how do you not? I know people can be really immature but as far as I can tell nobody else got an egg.... Why us? Have any of you ever had anything like this happen? How did you feel? Thanks Mamas.

What can I do next?

Sounds like you got a dose of random act of meanness. Best thing to do is clean it up so it looks like nothing happened. The perp will want to see his art in the morning so he can show it off to someone else. Get rid of it so he doesnt get the satisfaction. One must always treat graffiti the same, dont leave it up longer than you have to.
Kids!

Dont take it personal, its just ignorant kids. They probably dont even know you. Are the kids in your neighborhood on Spring Break by chance? The little jerks in my neighborhood like to steal stuff out of garages while they are out of school.

Hi A.,

I am sorry this happened to you! I know it feels awful to have been violated like that-- most likely it was just some kids or rambunctious teens trying to have a little fun. If you don't have any enemies that you know of, I wouldn't worry--they probably just picked your house randomly. Try not to let this get you down. Good luck and have a great night!

It was probably just kids who didn't have enough sense to be home where they belong. And, it was just one egg. It doesn't sound like you were "targetted" for vandalism.

One of my daughter's friends TP'd our house and thought it was hilarious. I was furious because of the mess. It was nothing compared to how pissed her mother was though! First of all, she was trusted not to leave the house when mom went to pick the little brother up after going to the movie with Grandma and second of all, she wasted 8 rolls of toilet paper.

Fortunately, with the price of eggs these days, I don't think you'll have to worry about it happening frequently.
I'm sorry it happened, but I really wouldn't overthink it.
It was an egg.
Kids do really stupid things sometimes.

Best wishes.

I wouldn't be surprised if you wake tomorrow and find out, that you're not the only one. We get that in our neighborhood, too. Usually, they egg several houses. Don't take it personally, it's very likely random vandalism.

That happened to us shortly after moving into our new house. We live in a cul-de-sac in a quiet neighborhood. I found the dried up egg long after it had been thrown, probably from the walking trail a couple houses away. I'm guessing it was kids seeing if they could hit our house from the trail above. It did make me feel a little weird, but then I thought of some of the stupid things I did when I was younger .....

I agree with the "random act of meanness" stated below. Unfortunately there are those out there that have no morals or don't care how these random acts affect us. The truck I use every day to take my girls to school and to drive to work was targeted a couple of weeks ago - someone stabbed a hole in the back tire. Other cars were targeted on our street in the same manner, but it still didn't take the personal offense feeling out of it. You can't help but wonder why, but at the same time, you can use it as a learning tool to teach your children what not to do and to respect other people's property. Or, like us, install cameras :)

it was probably a random act of stupidity by a teen. im glad it didnt break a window or anything serious. i would document it and anything else that happens to your property.

my sisters car has also gotten tagged. also with the school and many other cars.

I have had some one throw a burning bag of poo into our yard in the middle of the night. i found it in the morning and that was scary because that could have caught our house on fire. we didnt make a report or anything we just asked that a patrol car did an extra drive by of our house.

Been there, except in my case they keyed my truck, from front to back. All down the side, and it had to be kids because they also added a stick figure to it. Nice.

Our old neighborhood hooligans spray painted mailboxes, tagged garage doors, toilet papered trees and even once showed up across the street with a gun with 15 vs. 2 guys. Nice neighborhood until they showed up. I'm sure it's not personal, but I'd be mad too! Install outdoor cameras.

Yep they've hit us too a few times over all the years. Eggs on our cars made us more upset, cause it scratches the paint. it was hard to clean out of the emblem it happend to hit. It's usually just random and they probably threw it while driving by and every few houses or cars will be hit. One night we heard a big bang down the street, and then another and another and you could tell it was a car driving by and by the time we got up and out the front door they were gone and about 6 mailboxes on our side of the street had been smashed. They call it mailbox baseball. It's a shame it happens, but it does. Makes you want to be sure where your kids are and what they are doing when out of your sight.

In one of the neighborhoods I used to live in my car got egged. And this was the nicest neighborhood in town. I of course was PISSED. It wasn't a nice car or anything like that. Just my out of high school junker. But still, they were stupid enough to go and waste 2.00 worth of eggs just to throw them? How stupidly pathetic. One thing that helped me get over my anger was that I just knew that I would end up with the college degree and working at an amazing place, while they probabaly were still flipping burgers and picking their nose.
(I was 18 at the time, college was on my mind a lot). Just think of what this teaches your kids. It's not cool, they are dumb and life goes on :D

Havent had an egg yet... ( i suspect its just a matter of time) but we have had our trucks broken into and on new years day a neighbor came over to ask us if we knew our truck was on blocks.... no we didnt, someone was nice enough to come over and steal the tires off of my husbands truck ( they were stock gm tires nothing flashy or fancy) and even was nice enough to use the bricks from our backyard to put the truck on. The most upsetting thing was that they were in our backyard, where our bedroom faces while we were sleeping.

Kids can be a pain in the butt! It was just random and nothing personal I am sure. My husband and I had something similar happen to us. In a neighborhood we used to live in we had someone ring our door bell and it was kind of late at night. My husband went to see who it was and opened the door to firecrackers going off!! We saw them and tried to catch them but it was too dark and hard to see where they went. I was sooo mad!!! Because if my husband had opened the door maybe a little faster he would have gotten it in the face or something. Needless to say, we don't live there anymore and the neighborhood we live in now hardly has anything happen in it, it can still happen out of the blue every once in a while no matter where you live.

I get it; I have had a few things like that happen and felt like it was very intrusive and against me personally. One time a girl wrote in my high school yearbook, "Hey! I was dared to steal a lightbulb out of your lightpost in your yard!" and I remember feeling so upset about that. Which is funny because I don't remember the light being stolen, I didn't have to buy a replacement, I was just a kid. At the time I assumed she did it because she didn't like me, but I realize now that kids just do dumb things. Another time, someone stuck plastic forks all over our lawn. At least 50 of them, and they were pushed really far down so you could not see them. It was bad because we stepped on a few and cut our feet. I tried to find them all, but our feet and lawnmower kept finding them for about a month. That one still pisses me off!
Get it cleaned up asap. Maybe get some motion sensors to keep people out of your yard. *sigh*

Our street got paint balls. they paint balled everyone parked on the street. We have car break ins all the time. My car hasn't but husbands has but he didn't have anything. The only reason he knew is because they took money out of his console and put it on the seat. Tires have been slashed but not on our cars. Usually its cars that look very used. Its just a bunch of bored teenagers with nothing else to do. Peoples houses get teepeed all the time also. Don't be insulted, it could have been worse. Someone I work with had mustard squirted all over her door and some of the yellow didn't come out.
