I was wondering if any of you have found a good leakproof container to put drinks in kids lunch boxes. I would like to stop using boxed and pouched drinks, but I can't find one that is leak proof. I've been looking at the alum. containers on line, but I wanted to see if you had a suggestions(specific brands) first. Thanks so much:) Everyone always has such helpful info, I so appreciate it!

What can I do next?

I bought some at publix that work great, but they are plastic and with the lead concerns, I might not recommend. I also bought the stainless steel ones (expensive, but great) at whole foods and REI. They are awesome, don't leak, stay cold, easily snap back closed.

I am with everyone else, I love my kleen kanteen. that said I do actually own sigg (the lining is tested and safe) and though cute I do not like them near as much. They are not as easy to clean and I don't like the caps as much as kleen kanteen, we have both the big kids and little kids sigg as well as the sports cap and sippy top kleen kanteen. We had the foogo (by thermos, same as the funtrainer by thermos only funtrainer has designs) and though it comes with an extra straw it was the rubber straw on ours that broke very quickly and it doesnt come with an extra of that. You have to order replacements. I also did not like these as much as kleen kanteen. they are easy to clean but i didnt like the flip top/straw top nor did I like the fact it was insulated (so 2 pieces connected).

I used the rubbermaid ones someone mentioned years ago and they are leak proof and a great size for the lunchbox. Havent owned one recently to look at the plastic but when a drink is going to be sitting in it all day I tend to go for the safer plastics, so #2, 4 and 5, on the bottom. #3,6, 7 contain pvc or other bpa containing plastics and should be avoided when something is sitting in them or if it will be heated

We have one of the thermos bottles for kids they have a pop up lid and straw in them, they absolutely do not leak. My daughter did drop it on its lid at a weird angle and the lid did pop off but it was easily put back on and is as good as new. In fact I carried that thermos up to the school walking half a mile in my coat pocket ( big pocket) and it didn't leak on drop of cocoa in my jacket.

CuteSip is a brand new stainless steel bottle system that could be exactly what you're looking for! The stainless steel design keeps kids safe (it's BPA and lead free) and drinks cool for up to 4 hours. Plus, with CuteSip's unique interchangeable lid design, you can ensure drinks won't spill in a lunch box by using the CuteSip Flat Cap or Loop Cap. Your kids can then drink out of it as a cup, or for the younger set, the Spill Proof Sippy Spout Top can easily be attached to help them drink! Check them out at: www.CuteSip.com.

weLOVE LOVE LOVE our klean kanteens. i love that its not more plastic etc going to landfills and love that we don't get wet beds from them at night when the kids all have a water. love that the kks are dishwasher safe whereas the thermos ones we replaced were not and although they are not as pick your own print cute as the SIGG bottles they aren't aluminum (neuro issues) with a sketcky imo lining in them either. oh and we have the sport caps but i'm planning on a new one with a sippy attachment for the new baby.

I use the Rubbermaid Juice Box for water in my daughter's lunch box and it doesn't leak. I have heard good things about the Kleen Kanteen but haven't used them. On another note, I have used Happy Sacks instead of plastic bags all year and they have been terrific. You can find them online.

I would avoid aluminum as it leaches into the food or drink in the thermos, same with plastic.

There are a lot of great stainless steel water bottles out their that do not leach. And they have them in great colors to make the kids happy. I personally prefer the Klean Kanteen bottles.

Go to Greenfeet.com to see a bunch of different options.

Hope this helps.

My kids get a bottle of water. I pre-open it then reclose it in the morning so that the twist top is easy enough to open for Kindergarten and 2nd grade boys, and it doesn't leak.

I found a great one at Target. It is a steel container made by Themos. It has a plastic flip top (that he can open),and a soild plastic straw insert. It hold about 16oz. I fill it about 1/2 full for my son. It fits in his lunch box, keeps the milk cold, and does not leak. I bought it at the beginning of the school year.

I use a sporty looking one by Playtex that has a flip top straw. My daughter is 7 and she says some of her friends use the same type even though it is found in the baby sup section.

Well, at Target I got one of my boys this batman container to drink from thermos it has a straw when it pops up when you open it...It doesn't leak yet and I haven't had to replace the straw yet but it came with an extra. I've seen other kids have them of course with other things on them then batman. I just looked at it and it is a thermos brand I think it was about $9.00 hated the price but it's paid off. I've seen them in the isles where they have like camping stuff.

I have started using a Thermos. The brand Thermos makes a kid's one with a pop up lid and straw, all comes apart to wash in dishwasher. Doesn't leak, comes in kids design, ie spiderman, lightning mcqueen, etc. (there was a girl's one too). I got mine at Walmart and was told Target has them too.
