I like the Woman's Hospital Child Developement Center. They are great! I believe St.Thomas Moore may have a program but I'm not positive. They are on Goodwood at Sherwood. Good Luck!

Are you looking for "daycare" or Mother's Day Out? I am not familiar with daycare here but my grandchildren attend Jefferson Baptist Mother's Day Out, and it is excellent. They do take 2 year olds. The hours are 9am to 1pm, and although they are opened 4 days a week (closed Wednesdays) a child is allowed to only attend 3 days a week (or fewer if desired ie one or two days). I pick up the kids for my daughter and son often and can't say enough good things about the program and staff. There are other MDO programs in BR at other churches too. Also, there are lots of new apartments in BR since Katrina, so you should not have any trouble finding something you like. Hope this helps.

St. Louis King of France Early Learning Center has a preschool program for 2-yr olds that my son goes to. My cousin sends her kids to Hosanna Christian Academy which also has a 2yr old program. I've found alot of the catholic programs are either half days or 3+. But check at all the churches that have a school, they generally have an early learning center, but there is no standard as to whether or not they have a full day 2yr old program. I believe when i looked into st. thomas, they started at 3, and depending on the birthdate, it could potentially be only a half day program.

I do know that both st. louis and Hosanna offer summer/break sessions as well, so you do not have to take too much time off when school is normally not in session.

I AM CATHOLIC AS WELL, BUT I HIGHLY RECOMMEND WOODLAWN BAPTIST. THEY HAVE A GREAT PRESCHOOL AND MOTHER'S DAY OUT PROGRAM. MY DAUGHTER ATTENDS THERE.
WE HAVE MANY GREAT CATHOLIC SCHOOLS, IT JUST DEPENDS ON WHERE YOU WANT TO LIVE.
lOOK UP PLACES ON BLUEBONNET AS FAR AS CONDOS/APARTMENTS.
ALSO, CHECK INTO CONDOS/APARTMENTS OFF OF JEFFERSON HIGHWAY AS WELL. THESE ARE GOOD AREAS. I LIVE NEAR BLUEBONNET AND WE HAVE GREAT CATHOLIC SCHOOLS NEAR HERE: ST. GEORGES'S AND ST. JUDE'S.

NEAR JEFFERSON AND GOODWOOD STREET, THERE IS A GOOD SCHOOL CALLED OUR LADY OF MERCY-CATHOLIC SCHOOL.
LET ME KNOW IF I CAN BE OF ANY HELP. I HAVE A TWO-YEAR OLD DAUGHTER AS WELL. GOOD LUCK.

The Catholic schools in the area are great, but most do not start untill 4 yr old pre school. However, the Baton Rouge International school is an increadible place for your tot. They are a total immersion school of french and spanish. I started my children there with the intention of moving them to St. Alyouisious for kindergarten. I am pleased to say that I will not do the diservice of moving them. I now have a 3 yr old and a 5 yr old in the school and I could not be happier. If anyone could possibly love my children the way that I do, those teachers definately do. They are happy, and both speaking fluent french and spanish. Their english vocabulary is also increadible. My oldest has been learning chinese for two years as an elective and loves it too. You would be amazed at what these children are capable of. The school also offers day care for babies, before and after care, sports, ballet, and so any other things. You should call and get a packet and try to get your child in at this age. Two years old is the perfect time to get started. Besides, they do not accept children after a certain age without fluency in the main two languages. anyway if you want to call the number is ###-###-####

First Welcome to Louisiana.
You should find good people and good food.
As for schools... Baton Rouge has many great private schools.
I myself am Catholic, so I know most of the Catholic Schools.
I can say that they are all equally great as I know people who went to all of them too. The only real difference is size, location and maybe some amenities. So anyone would be good.
As for location and size I like Most Blessed Sacrament. It is near the Highland Rd/ Jefferson Intersection (off of Barringer Foreman) and the proximity of location is close to everything without being in a traffic nightmare. You are just minutes from Blue Bayou, Mall of Louisiana, Walmart, Target, area Restaurants, the hospitals (The General/ Our Lady of the Lake). So below is the link for MBS and for some Condos that you can purcahse ($158-$180K). Adjacent to the condos are apartments that you can rent, and all is in a safe and convienent location. Oh and MBS does have a preschool....not to mention MBS is super close to these condos. You may want to just rent an apartment until you find where you want to buy. Or try looking at a google map of the location and geting street names to search some realtor sites for property for sale in that area.

(copy all the text below...as not sure you can link to it and then paste in your web browser..it has multiple prop listings for condos)

St. George (Siegen near I-10) has a half day program, but I work full time, so my dd goes to Kids are People Too. They have a preschool program in the morning, and provide daycare before and after.
