Looking for a Good Preschool for My 4 Year Old.

Welcome to the area! We went through looking for good schools last year with my twin daughters. We must have looked at over 50 preschools, (public, private, church, etc)and most were too expensive, not accredited or we just didn't like the programs. The best school hands down is the preschool at the first united methodist church in downtown Wichita. Yes, it's a church school, but it is a nationally accredited program. It's wonderful! My children have learned and grown so much this year. They expereince everything from science to reading to outdoors, language and math. They go on field trips, have special visitors and many special events for the family over the course of the year. Parents are welcome at anytime and encouraged to help out with the school kids whenever they want. They do special programs for holidays, including breakfast with daddy and a mother's day tea. The teachers all have teaching degrees, and all of them have at least 13 years of teaching expereince. We have been VERY happy with this preschool. Your child can attend Mon, Wed, Fr, or Tue-Thurs or go all week. Your choice. They also have a lunch bunch that allows the kids to stay up until 2:00 on certain days for a slight extra charge. This school was also the leader of the pack when it comes to cost. Most of the schools we looked at were very expensive, 200-500 per month. My twins go Tues-Thurs and it only costs 160 per month (80 for each.) I think M-W-F is 110 per month. If you are interested, call Brianna Vogt, (the director), she will gladly have you and your child come tour the facility, watch the teachers and classes and provide you with any info you will want. Believe me, we spent months looking at preschools, and once we chose this one, we have been just thrilled with every aspect of it, and so have my kids!

Well D., if your child is in school I recomend looking to see if the school has a summer program. If not look at the local Rec center or the YMCA. All of these have a lot of activities and are reasonably priced.

I recommend Noah's Ark Preschool. It is on west Maple inside Central Community Church. My daughter went there on Mon-Wed-Fri. We both loved it!

My child attends Faith Lutheran in Derby and we have loved it. She goes T/Th this year and now that she is 4 she'll go MWF next year.

I work at Eastminster Presb. Church on Webb Rd. They have a great preschool and a wonderful Kids day out program. You can come and preview at the summer session for KDO the first week in June. A lot of the preschool teachers teach the KDO program in the summer. You would need to contact Dana or Cheryl at the church. My kids love it there and we have a lot of friends that go as well. We live in Derby and send our kids to Jack and Jill. It's associated with Woodlawn United Methodist Church but religion is not over prevalent. They have tuesday/thursday and mon/wed/fri class choices. We've been happy.

In my research I found that the moms I spoke to were all happy with the choice they made. I heard a lot about Faith Lutherin, Mary Jo Foster (home program), early childhood role model program with the school and Jack and Jill.

The last day for my girls at Jack and Jill is Wed May 21.

My twins are 5 and start kg in August. They stay with grandma all day so this was their first time in daycare/preschool. One knows all her letters and their sounds and can write all her numbers. The other is getting there and should have it by kindergarten. They learn a letter a week and have a theme each week. THis week is z and zoo. Last week was L and Love. WE do show and tell once a week with something starting with the letter, they do snacks and take turns taking them. THe snack person sets up the chairs, serves the snack, leads the prayer and is the weather reporter for the day. They start with circle time where they review the calendar and the letter of the week. THey have learned to color in the lines very well, are adept at scissors, are comfortable speaking to their class (show and tell experience). I've been pleased.
Sorry to ramble...... Oh, on emore thing. I did check with a kindergarten teacher before hand and she said she's seen good things with all the schools listed above. You might contact the local school to see what they think of pre-school in Haysville.
