I am new to the area and I am looking for a park that has playground equipment for younger kids. My son is 18 months old and right now I only know of 2 parks near us (St. Petersburg, Largo, Seminole areas) that have decent playground equipment for his age. Any help greatly appreciated

What are in St Pete are you looking to stay close to? That would help me in recommending parks! I'm born and raised her, so I would be happy to give you some pointers!

I live in Seminole, so we mostly go to Seminole Lake Park, Seminole City Park (they play old timey music there on Fridays 1-4pm), Largo Central Park, Walsingham Park, and Seminole Recreation Center (this one is all new equipment and is covered). Largo Central is our favorite and Largo library is right next to it. They have great puppet shows and story times. They offer free baby sign laguage classes too. Whe in St. Pete we visit, Fossil Park on 9th St. just off 62nd Ave. N., and Cresent Lake Park (on 22nd Ave. N just off 4th St.), I am sure there are many more in the area, just keep driving and looking around. Good luck! Indoor play grounds for rainy days are The Ultimate Party Play Zone www.uppz.com (62nd Ave. N.) don't let the website scare you off, it's a great place for toddlers to play. It's safe and generally kids 5 and under are the only ones there in the morning time until about 12:00. Play Time Express behind Chili's in Tyrone area, and Tyrone Mall has a play area. Play Time Express also offers classes such as music, playdough, arts and crafts, cooking, etc. www.playtime-express.com what is nice about both indoor places is you don't have to sign up for a club or commit to any days. Just go when you want to. both businesses are set up just for toddlers. Hope this wasn't too much info. Good luck!!

Hi J.,
Welcome to Sunny Florida.
There are many good parks.

My personal favorite is the one on 22nd Ave South (also known as Gulf Port Blvd) and 64th Street. It is very Shaddy, fenced in with only one entrance/exit to watch.

Others are located:
Azalea Rec. 22nd Ave N between 71st Street and 70th Street. Just west of Tyrone Mall.

Further west on 22nd North about 74th street head north about two blocks is another one.(Not sure of the name)

Lake Seminole Park, Park Blvd between Seminole and Starky.

22nd Ave N and 58th Street.

46th Ave N and 58th Street.

31st Ave N and 1st Street.

There is a park behind the Vinoy (downtown) called North Shore, I don't know the names ofthe streets it is located... North of 5th Ave N on the bay.

Maximo Park is at the Pinellas Point Drive exit of 275, this is the last exit b4 the Skyway bridge.

22nd Ave N between 9th Street and 4th STreet is Crescent Lake.

There is another park near US 19 and 118th Ave n (this is North of Parkside Mall where Target is)

There is the War Vetrans Park on Tyrone Blvd, near Bay Pines.

Not knowing where in St. Pete you are, I hope I have given you a wide variety of potential fun places to play.

There is a place called playtime express by Tyrone Mall, again, 22nd Ave N there is a light at the food court entrance to the Mall, go the other direction, you will come to a light and you will see Chili's it is in that shopping square, it is toward the back. I don't know the fees anymore, but it is a nice place to play when it get hot out. They also have play groups. Very fun.

There is also the Ultimate Party zone on 62nd Ave N west of 16th STreet.
Also a nice place for when it is hot out.

I also Recommend a year pass to Great Explorations & Sunken Gardens.
4th Street south of 22nd Ave N.

huh. I never relized it b4, most everything is off of 22nd. laugh.

Anyways. Hope you enjoy.

Well, I dont know where in St.Pete you are but there is a good park in Seminole not too far from Park Blvd and 125th its called Boca Ciega Millenium Park. I know there is a sign on Park blvd showing where to turn. Its a nice park and usually not too crowded, the only thing is there's no shade in the playground area. You should be able to get directions off Mapquest. Have fun!!

We are in Largo but we have friends that we see in St. Pete and we go to Del Holmes park. It has indoor/outdoor grass, shaded areas and equipment for all ages. They recently opened a spray park there too! Another one is Feathersound playground and Seminole Rec Center and of course Largo Central Park. If you are interested send me a message and I will give you the addresses/directions. We have a group that meets several times a week doing a variety of activities and all the kids are around the same age (18-24 months).

Crescent Lake Park on 22nd Ave North has a pretty good playground, including baby swings. It also has a lake with lots of ducks and a big area of grass great for pinics or running around.
