Looking for a Good Middle Name

Hello All,

We are pretty set on the name Sydney for our daughter (due in September).

I REALLY like Sydney Jamison but hubby is not set on Jamison so here I am looking for suggestions for another middle name.

Any suggestions?

Thought I should add this part too since hubby and I are sitting here discussing and I keep having to bring up the initials aspect. Our last name is one syllable and begins with P. I keep having to remind him not to go with an "A" middle name (SAP). LOL. Thanks for the Sid Crosby and the "Jenna Jameson" bit BTW. Both good points but we seriously needed a good laugh. Can't wait to look over all of the suggestions!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Well, we haven't chosen a name thus far but definitely appreciate all of the feedback and suggestions. We really like Sydney Grace and Sydney Danielle, but we also came up with Sydney Rhiannon and Sydney Emerson (not Jamison but close). Knowing us- we are going to end up picking something completely different 2 weeks prior to delivery as we did with our first little girl (started w/ Avery Rhiannon and ended up with Colbie McKenna).

Thanks again for all of the suggestions.

Sydney Lane!
That was the name I had chosen for my daughter from the time I was 14 up until I had her at 25. BUT when I was pregnant Sydney seemed to be very popular and my husband "found" another name that we absolutely loved and still love five years later. We kept Lane as my daughters middle name though... another variation of it that I also like is Elaine.

How about Paulette, Parker, Elizabeth, MIchelle. If you have a short last name, it may work. You won't use the middle name unless you are mad and yelling their full name "john richard smith" at them, so unless you really plan on call the baby. Nowadays I've seen more girls with names that can be used either male/female.

R.,
Congratulations on little Sydney!!! My daughter's name is Sydney Ava (I know you said you weren't liking the A middle names. But I must say, I trump your SAP. Our last name begins with a D, so our Sydney is SAD (she is so far from sad, good thing!).
I think a great idea would be to shuffle through your family history and find a maiden name, or a name that belonged to someone else in your family that seems fitting and pays tribute to a loved one.

Happy naming, and happy birthing!

Sydney is a name that can be both masculine and feminine. So, I would go for a very feminine and strong middle name.
Do you have a beloved relative or friend who was/is a strong woman?
It's nice to have a name that is meaningful and that you can tell your child the story of the person who is their namesake.
Sydney Renee has been mentioned more than once. Has a nice sound to it. Or Syndey Shanae?, Sydney Janae?

I never give advice on names but I read your request and I LOVE the name Sydney. I had a dear sweet classmate named Sydney and have lost touch. I said it outloud like Darcie did and Celeste came out. With Sydney you could go with a one syllable, two syllable or even three syllable name and it would flow.

Let us know what you decide :) and congratulations!

In December 2008 my triplet daughters were born. We had a son in 05 whose name is Brock Thomas, we named our girls, Alexis Leigh, Mia Johneen, and Sydney Dyan.

All middle names for our children are names of a family member who is deceased or beloved.

If you go that route, you can't go wrong.

Friends of ours have asked if we named Sydney for Sidney Crosby (since my husband loves hockey) and I tell them HELL NO!!! :)

OH yes...and as for the inital thing, My name had 2 D's in the first two names. Then I got married and now I have 3 D's. Don't worry about initials, they may not be forever LOL

LOL! When I was pregnant with our daughter, my husband and I kept on having to remind ourselves to stay away from middle names beginning with "T" because the last thing our daughter need was to have the initials "STD". Anyway, here are some suggestions:

Drew
Taylor
Olivia
Brooke
Rene
Nicole
Noel

That's all I can think of for right. Best of luck with the birth of your daughter and picking out her middle name.

Hi!

Just wanted to say that I/We had the hardest time choosing a name for our daughter as well. I liked so many names, but wasn't 'in love' with any of them. My daughter was a week overdue and I was watching 30Rock when Selma Hayek's character came on screen Her name was Elisa and I knew that was it. Hubby agreed, thankfully. My advice is to try and relax and it'll come to you. GL!

My niece's name is Sydney May if it helps!

We used family names with a twist. My father passed away a little over a year before our 1st girl was born and we used part of his name (Edward) and part of my Mom's name (Donna) to make Edon. Our second daughter has a mix of my husband's first name (Jason) and mine (M.) for a middle name of Jame. Different but it means so much more to us.
