Having a "Wonderful SURPRISE Baby" and I need a glider & ottoman. Dark cherry/dark oak finish is preferred with neutral fabric (tan, beige, coco, tan). What brand would you recommend? Know someone selling? What brands to stay away from?

What can I do next?

Dutailiers are the top of the line and absolutely fabulous. I had one and loved it. You might be able to pick one up on CraigsList; but they do go fast as they are quite expensive new. But they'll last forever. Mine was dark cherry and I selected a microfiber which held up very nicely and was very easy to clean.

There's a place called Rocker World in Chandler that my husband got me a glider and ottoman from over 4 years ago and it still looks new (and it has had a lot of use!!) I like it because we could special order the color. and it is soooo comfy! I've fallen asleep in it multiple times.
Congrats on your surprise!

I'm not sure of the brand, but my grandpa got an awesome one at Big Lots, I really wanted to steal it. It was a pretty cherry wood the only problem I had with it was it's tendency to turn in a circle. :-)

I don't know if you're stuck on getting a wooden glider but if not let me make another suggestion. We looked EVERYWHERE for the perfect glider, including consignment shops, baby stores, and furniture stores. We couldn't find one like we wanted and then someone suggested that we look at rocking recliners or the gliders that are like overstuffed chairs instead. The wooden rockers can be a hazard when the baby starts crawling given all the exposed moving parts. I hadn't even considered that but was really glad someone brought it up. We ended up going with a chenille recliner that is smaller than the traditional recliners and more suited for a nursery. It is so comfortable and I'm really happy with our decision.

Mine is a Bellini and I love it! I got it second hand on craigslist.com. Give it a try...I have had great luck on there!
