My daughter is about to turn 4 years old and has been begging me to put her in a dance class. She doesn't know what type of dance, and with so many kinds I don't know the best one to start her in. Does anyone know of recitals that are coming up that we could attend so she could see what the types of dance are and then make a decision? I also want to make sure that whatever studio I put her in has a friendly and caring atmosphere. If you know of a qualified and caring studio around the 1604/281 area that you could reccomend, I would greatly appreciate it!!

My friend's daughter is a former kindergarten teacher who has owned a dance studio for the last 8 or so years. It's near Stone Oak & Huebner- actually front is on Stone Hue, in a strip center. Heather Stolle Dance. She has a daughter named S.!
Good luck!

My 3yo daughter started taking ballet at the San Antonio School for the Performing Arts at the beginning of February. She loves it, and I am so impressed with her teacher. My daughter struggles with social interaction, and her teacher is the most patient person. She kept encouraging C without overwhelming her the entire two months it took her to walk into the class by herself from the doorway. The other little girls who have been there longer seem to love the teacher as well. It's a 3-4yo beginning ballet class, and they do a bit of tap at the end of every session. It's about 45 minutes of ballet and 15 minutes of tap every Saturday. The same class is also offered on Tuesday afternoons, I think.

The school also offers jazz once the children get a little older as well as piano, guitar and other private lessons for musical instruments. It's on Jones-Maltsberger, kind of close to but a little north of the NEISD Blossom Athletic Complex.

The Heather Stolle School of Dance is the best place I've ever found for that age. The owner has 2 little girls of her own. The classes are geared toward letting the girls have fun while they learn. It is located at StoneOak and Huebner. The phone number is ###-###-####.
