Looking for a Cider Mill/Pumpkin Patch

Hi,

Can anyone recommend a good Cider Mill that also has a good selection of pumpkins and something fun for younger kids...like maybe a petting zoo or something. I don't need a corn maze or a haunted house. My daughter is too young for that stuff.

We have gone to Yates in the past but I haven't been impressed with their pumpkin selection.

I live in Berkley but I know I'll have to drive a bit to get to Cider Mill so any recommendations are appreciated.

Thanks!

I'll put my vote in for Blake's Cider Mill. www.BlakeFarms.com I've been going there for years, and now that I have a family I enjoy it even more! Plus you can find coupons for them in the community newspaper or those coupon books...

I vote Yates! :D You don't need to drive so far and the others don't offer much more for the drive. Yates has the best cider and donuts and they have a petting farm and apple tent, fudge tent, pony rides... why drive to Romeo?

There's a great place in Romeo. And for the world of me, I can't remember the name, or even the rd to get there.
I did a quick google search and found this.

Westview Orchards
65075 VanDyke, at 30 Mile Rd., Romeo, MI 48095.

Macomb County, Michigan.

You can try Blake's. It's a few miles farther than Yates, but it has everything you could imagine a cider mill would have. The only issue I have is how expensive everything is that's why I am also looking to go to a different one this year.

I grew up going to Yates but took my daughter to Wwestview last year (she had just turned 2 at the time) and she LOVED it. They have a great playground, a petting zoo, and a big hill of hay that she had fun climbing. They also had a hayride but we ran out of time for that (she needed a nap). The cider and donuts were yummy - to be honest, I can't remember much about the pumpkins...

Westview Orchards in Washington Twp is nice. You can pick apples and pumpkins. They have a playground and a petting area. They are on Van Dyke I believe by 32 Mile.

Every year we go to Erwin's orchard in South Lyon. My daughter is 3 1/2, and this is the 3rd year we've taken her! Its south of I-96, the same exit as Kensington Metropark.

We just took the family to Erwin Orchards last weekend! It is in south lyon, a bit of a drive BUT WELL WORTH IT! It was our first time there and they had EVERYTHING! Of course the hayride w/ pick your pumpkins and apples. $.50 a pound for the pumpkins. They had TONS of difference inflatables for the kids to play on, pony rides, a "spooky" kids barn, a petting zoo. Of course, fresh cider and donuts too!http://erwinorchards.com/wordpress/

This will be a drive for you, but worth it I think. Miller's Big Red off of 32 mile road and romeo plank? It has pumpkins (you can also ride a hayride to get them), a petting farm with a cow, pigs, chickens, a hay climbing thing, cider, donuts, and even a little kids slide. On the weekends, they usually have other things like food for sale and a bouncehouse. You can also pick apples.

We hit there every year a few times and love it! Have fun!

Hi J.,

I live in Berkley too and plan to go to Ruby Red Farms this coming Sunday - you can check it out at www.rubyredfarms.com. This will be my first time going and it looks like it will be about an hour drive. Last year I went to Diehl's and that was about 45 minutes away (diehlsorchard.com). I liked that one - it had a corn maze and the doughnuts were the best! They had some kind of flea market going on and hayrides available.

Good luck!

J.,

Westview is great and to me they have the best donuts (located on 30 mile road). But, my famiy and I love to go to Miller's Big Red on 32 Mile Road. It's just a couple more miles from Westview and it's cheaper. We will be taking our kids there soon. We also go there to pick apples every year.
