I am toying with the idea of homeschooling. I would like meet with a christian homeschool group to learn more about it and see first-hand what other homeschoolers are doing.

My oldest is 2.5 years old so we are not ready to begin. I really want to prepare my mind now for what I will need to know and do when the time comes. Honestly I feel inadaquate to teach through the elemetary years but maybe if I start learning now I will be better prepared then.
Where do you meet? When do you meet?
What happens when you are together? How many families are included?
Is there a fee?
Can one join who isn't officially homeschooling yet?
How does God fit into the group?

What can I do next?

I am in the process of researching homeschooling too. I have a 4 year old and a almost 2 year old. It is a great idea to start early in looking into it. I have found several things that my sons will really enjoy and not even know they are learning!! You might want to look at Five In A Row(FIAR). They have a Before FIAR at you can start now with your son. We are going to do that as soon as the manual comes int he mail!

It is amazing how much God centered homeschool products/books there are out there. Happy hunting! I don't have any ideas about groups yet, good luck.

This group ( http://groups.yahoo.com/group/RHSC/ ) should be able to help you out. I live in Macomb County so I am not as aware of Oakland's groups but do belong to this one because my kids attend the homeschoolers school they have 1 day a week during the school year. Here is the link to their website as well: http://reachhomeschool.com/. Homeschooling is the best thing I ever decided to do and was surprised how many people out there do! There are more resources than you could ever imagine! Good luck!!
I wanted to add a couple more links. These may help you as well.
