We are looking for a sitter for our 15 month old daughter. Grandma lives nearby so we rely on her for sitting, but every so often she isnt available so we would like to find someone for occasional weekend or evening sitting. Any good ideas of where to find someone?
I work at a social services agency in Naperville with background checked college students that work with special needs childresn. Sometimes they are interested in more work. I can ask to see if anyone would be interested. I will only recommend those that I trust with my own children!

I used the website sittercity.com- I had the same need as grandparents are close by...it costs $60 initially and $5 a month but the first month I found 3-4 so you can cancel after a month- it lists their cost, references, etc. and you can "post" a request like you do on mamasource and have them respond to your need- it was very helpful to me and I found several excellent sitters for evening and weekend and they are really close to me.
