Hi C.,
If you go to the Locks of Love website you can find the directions for donating. I'm pretty sure you can go to any salon. I just recently got mine cut at my regualr salon and they put it into a low ponytail and braided it so that it was neat and ready to be sent. I printed out the form of where to send it from the website. Just google Locks of Love and you should find all the info. Hope this helps!

Good Morning,
About 2 years ago I cut 11" off my hair. When I went to the salon they put it in a pony tail and then cut it. I took it home and found the address for Locks of Love and mailed to to them myself.
Good Luck.

Hi C.!

What a great thing for your daughter to be doing! You must be so proud!

Actually you don't even need a salon to donate your hair. You can just put it into a braid, cut it and send it in. Then go to the salon for the style of her choice.

My girlfriend just donated hers this way and I'll be doing the same soon after I deliver my little one in the next few weeks.

Here is the website:
http://www.locksoflove.org/donate.html

If you read the orange "How to Donate" box on the right, it gives you all the information you'll need.

Have Fun, Take Pictures & Best of Luck!

PS: Pantene is also accepting hair donations now and they only require 8 inches for those who don't yet have 10 inches. They even have hair cutting events... very cool. Here is that site:

Hi C.!

What a great thing to donate the hair. I had 14" that I donated to Pantene Beautiful Lenghts. Here's the website: http://www.beautifullengths.com/en_US/index_home.jsp

I went with them because they use all the hair donated & give away the wigs. With Beautiful Locks I've heard that they sell some of the hair, and also sell the wigs. You can send in the hair to Pantene & your daughter would receive a letter from them thanking her for her donation.

if you can't find someone to do it, you can tell them you want to save the hair and what for. go in with 2 bands, and have them tie it right below where they're going to cut, braid it, then tie the end (it's the only way locks for love will take it and then you have to seal it in something like a zip-lock bag). you can send it in yourself, and not worry about them doing it.
every 2-3 yrs for the past (almost) 10 yrs i chop off all my hair (10-20 inches) and i make sure i go and have them tie it, i braid it and tie it at the end and i now have 3 long braids in a ziplock bag. my next cut is this summer, and i think this is the year that i'm going to send it in to them. i personally wanted to make sure that i had enough hair for a nice wig (being that i have thinner hair). it's really a great thing for her to do. and surprisingly, even after keeping it that long, as long as the bag is sealed tight, like mine, it still smells like the shampoo/conditioner that you last used on it before cutting it (and it still feels silky smooth like it was still attached to my head) go to the website, see the steps to do. good luck, and good job!

Pantene's program called Great Lengths is also a wonderful charitable organization to donate your daughter's hair to. What a wonderful example to set at such a young age!!

Hi C.,

If you have a regular salon you go to, you can let your hairstylist know that you are donating your daughter's hair for Lock for Love. You can go to their website for instructions on how to send the hair. www.locksoflove.org

My sister donated and I donated. It's a good cause.
