Hi A.,

My name is L. I have an 19 month son, where in lake worth do you live? Maybe I could introduce you to some local Moms. I live in Isola Bella on Lyons and Hypoluxo. Does your son know how to swim? www.DiscoveryToysLink.com/LisaRyan LisaM

There is Tiger Shark Cove Park in Wellington which is a really great park for kids of all ages, Okeeheelee park has a small nature center (free of charge) that is perfect for little ones as well as a couple of parks, nature trails. I will second the recommendation for Lion Country Safari. The annual pass is so worth it, they have a great sprinkler park that keeps my very active boys entertained for a very long time as well a small rides including a merry go round. Wellington mall play area is always great, I sometimes just take the boys to the pet store, keeps them as entertained as the zoo, but without the cost!!! LOL Wellington library usually has story time on Saturday mornings.

Hi!! There is this AWESOME place in West Palm Beach, in the same plaza as babies-r-us. It is called Krystal's indoor playground. It has every toy a kid could want plus a trampoline, ball pit, see-saw and slides. I take my daughter all the time because it is VERY clean and the woman who owns it is soo nice. The deals are really great too...its like $9 for the whole day and the price is for the kid, so they can come in the morning with you and go home for a nap and come back with dad or grandma and you only pay once. It closes at 6 and if you go between 4-6 it is only 5 bucks...definatly give it a try im sure your son will LOVE it!!!! Hope that helps.

oh and did I mention....INDOORS!!! A/C is a plus!!

Hi A.. I really think the best deal in town is Lion Country Safari. It is only $50 per year, unlimited, for an adult..and your son will be free. I am very opposed to traditional zoos that cage the animals..but at Lion Country they are free on acres and acres. When you get the membership, you can do the drive through zoo..and that takes about 1 hour...but if you want to bypass it, they have a nice, big walk-around area. there are small rides, like a merry-go-round, lots of animals there too...more on the lines of birds, etc...and you can feed giraffes by hand. They also have a water park for little ones to run around in. All of the rides are free..it is really an economical place. Just take southern, west, and you bump right into it. Another thing, that I need to remember more often, is that we do live near the beach..and kids LOVE the beach. Good luck..I am going to read your responses, and hopefully get some ideas as well. OH...there is an AWESOME park in Wellington..I mean AWESOME. it is on greenview shores and greenbriar. It is an enormous playground that was crafted with such quality. There are tons of play areas, sandboxes, bells to ding, tunnels, bridges...it is really cool. Hope this all helps!

Hey A.,

How are you? I can completly relate when it comes to needing fresh ideas!! :)

There is a site called meetup.com where you can join local groups of moms who plan fun activities for moms/kids throughout the community (parks, zoo, local community events etc.)

There are some great parks in Wellington as well as a water park. In Royal Palm Beach, Veteran's Park has a small water fountain structure that the kids can cool off in esp as summer is approaching. It also has a play ground and covered picnic tables. There is also a cafe where you can eat lunch or get snacks.

I would also suggest looking in the paper or online for various kids events throughout the community. There was a great one in WPB over the weekend.

Hope this helps. I'm sure there is lots of other ideas that other moms will come up with!!

I am kinda out of ideas also........I am sure you go to parks and playgrounds, but in this hot Florida sun it gets too hot!! The Wellington Mall has an indoor play area, but you need to be careful if there are older kids playing there. You can join a plygroup and or a kids gym? Curious what you hear from other moms in the area....let me know? Thanks

My daughter just turned 3. Some of her favorites were Green Cay Wetlands, Wakodahatchee Wetlands, and Pine Jog Environmental Education Center. All three have free / inexpensive programs of interest to 2 year olds and are in your area. South Florida Parenting is an excellent resource for things to do in your area. You can find a free copy at most child friendly locales.

Welcome to this area. I also live in West Lake Worth. There are two nice nature trails south of us - one is Green Cay and the other is Wakodahatchee Wetlands. Lots of birds, turtles, fish, sometimes iguanas and alligators and long safe boardwalks to walk on. The West Palm Beach Zoo is great with the animals, carousal ride, and fountains to run in. West Boynton Park (just south of Hypoluxo off Jog near the High School) is a great place to use the playdoodle, watch the skateboards, or play in the sand. John Prince Park is in East Lake Worth (on Lake Worth Road) past the community college - it has a hugh play area. The children's school house museum is in Boynton Beach - great place for kids and they have parks outside of there too. Gumbo Limbo is a bit of a drive - East Pompano - but a fun place once in awhile to see turtle, stingrays, fish tanks. On Friday nights in downtown Lake Worth they have music at the Brogue's Irish Pub that starts at 7 - so go early and get a close seat, order and then watch the guy sing and play the guitar - my kid loves to dance. And Old Key Lime House on Ocean Ave, South of Lantana heading over to the ocean has music and the kids can feed the catfish in the evening. And starting Sunday May 25 at the Meyer Amph. in West Palm Beach they have a band playing every last Sunday of the month through the summer. Bring food and a blanket, the keds run around and there's usually some decent music. Anyway, hope that helps. You can google any of it for times and directions. J.
