lJFF - And to Make Me Feel Less Lonely...

When did you find your first gray hair? Seroiusly, I thought my hair is light enough that I wouldn't really have to worry about it. Laughed at my husband (he's been gray since we were 28 or so...)

Standing in the ladies room, I look over (I had my glasses up on my head with part of my hari pushed back by them) and WHOA! It's right there...and it's not just barely there...the sucker is like an inch and half long! It was almost like a snake/spider/your worst nightmare jumped at me...and I don't mind...really, I just never expected it. My mom is not gray, my dad is bald...grandma and grandpa's I don't think were gray until after 60.

I don't feel old, I never thought I'd freak out like this...now I'm just laughing! So silly!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks ladies! I'm 34, I have colored my hair, highlighted for many years...so I'm sure this isn't my "first"...and I know not my last! I was just shocked! There it was out of no where!

I am laughing I'm sure my reaction in the ladies room (had there been video) would have gone viral!

I found a few when I turned 30, probably because I was searching for them. I pulled the ones I found. I'm 38 now, and haven't found any more in the last couple of years, maybe because I quit searching. I have dark red hair, and the ones I found looked clear rather than dramatically white or gray.

I found my first gray hairs about two years ago. I am blonde, so maybe they were there before and I just didn't notice! I seem to ONLY be getting them in the from left, so I have a weird skunk like marking. Sweet. I am only 34! My husband has jet black hair and just the other day I found SEVEN...I had to laugh because I am sure I have way more than that but it's not as obvious since I am so light haired.

I think I was around 30. I'm 37 now (had to think about that for a minute) and I don't have streaks but I have a few here and there. I usually pull them out. My mom was all gray by the time she turned 28!

My hubby also has many gray hairs--and his hair is very, very dark--so it's pretty obvious. I, however, have not yet found one (on my head anyways)! Mine have started popping up in my eyebrows!! We both just turned 30 this year, though, so I'm sure time will tell...
Fortunately, my hair has a lot of natural highlights (I have never dyed it), so I hope they grays will just be mistaken for blonde...

I haven't had mine yet(my ancestry notoriously keeps their color. My grandmother died at 85 with 3/4 of her own black shade, my dad had merely a handful when he passed at age 60, Im 30 and i dye my hair so i doubt i will see one for 20 more years.

My husband(33) has had his share of a few grays(a little patch on his head) I like it!, hes got a full head of hair with a little foxy gray streak. the other day i saw he had 1 white beard hair!....completely white.

call me crazy but i find it awesome, i love the idea of him growing old in front of me.

I was 16 years old, at the Henry County fair. My sisters and I were watching the horses practice, sitting in the stands, and my baby sister starts yelling, I'm like what, think I had a bee on me or something, she's like, you have a gray hair. Thank goodness I'm sort of a natural blond, was white blond when I was born, now it's a darker one, however, I'm over 1/2 gray and I'm only 37.

Ha ha. I'm with you. I never expected to "see" one.
I thought maybe you just turned 60 and your entire head of hair turned gray. Ha ha

I noticed one right on top of my head at about 30, I think or 33. I was
shocked! Ha ha

But at least with hair you can dye it.

With other things.....not so lucky (veiny hands, spider veins in legs,
wrinkles around the eyes.

The upside? I'm still around to notice them, have them, see them. Woo
hoo.

While part of aging is freeing (not caring what others think of you, being
able to do whatever the heck you want), other things can be startling.

I try not to think about any of them, greet every day with a "thank heavens
I woke up" thought & go about my day doing things I like. (While still
having to do things I don't like such as cleaning the toilets. Yuck. ha ha).

I noticed my first somewhere around 46 years old. I am now 50 and I have a half-dozen or maybe a dozen silver hairs among my dark brown. I really like them, and as long as they come in that color (they sparkle under lights), I swear I will never dye it.

My mother was killed at 58 and had black hair with just a few gray hairs. My sister is 48 and her hair has been completely gray for several years, and not an attractive gray.
