Hi,

Just wondering what to search under for information on:

My 2 1/2 year old daughter woke up one morning last week with a little red flat dot in between her mouth and nose. Over the last week or so it has become raised...not necessarily bigger around, just raised. Then BOOM, this morning she woke up with another on on the side of her nose, closer up towards the eye.
(SIZE: No bigger than a ball point pen point.)

Anyone know what we are dealing with? Is it just a mole? Or is this the beginning of a hemanginoma (sp?). She's 2 1/2 and I thought hemanginomas appeared at birth or shortly there after. Any ideas?

Does anyone know of a good PEDIATRIC Dermatologist in the Johnson County area?
Thanks for your help.

What can I do next?

I would recommend Dr.Amy Nopper at Children's Mercy. We see her at the south campus. Her number is ###-###-####. SHe is very patient and INFORMATIVE. Her nurses also return phone call promptly. Bets of luck to you.

I see Dr. James San Filippo for my melanoma at the Lee's Summit location but I know they've got an office in Leawood. I would def. get it checked out though.

Hope this helps,

My daughter has a hemangioma at birth that we had some trouble with. Our dr sent us to Children's Mercy off of 435 and Nall (I think it's Nall) to their pediatric dermatologists. We saw two different dr's there and both were great. Luckily there was a cancellation and we got in within a week, other wise, it would have been several months.

There is no telling without looking at it.My daughter never had anything on her face then around one year she got one and it kept growing. She saw a doctor in children's Mercy at the dermatology clinic(sorry I can't recall the name right now.)He was very good with her.He also was very informative with us.The more hers grew the more it would break open and bleed. One morning she woke up with her crib full of blood(we had an appointment set up already)it scared me to death. So if you are concerned make sure you make your appoinment soon because sometimes it takes a while to get in.Anyway they gave her freezing treatments until it was completely gone. You can't tell it was ever there!Good Luck!
