If she won't let you ice it, give her a popcicle, or ottor pop, or any kind of icee pop. It works great for mouth injuries and I always make sure to keep some in my freezer for just these occasions.
Hello moms,
My daughtere fell and bit her lower lip yesterday. It was bleeding pretty hard and today it's all swallen. Is there anything I should be doing with that or just leave it alone to get better?

I would just put ice on it to keep the swelling down. Make sure her tooth did make any kind of big cut on the inside of her lip. You can also let her suck on an ice pop to make the inside of her lip feel better. You can buy fruit ice pops..
I think you will be fine but if you feel better calling to Dr. do that.

Other than ice there isn't much you can so. My 3 have many a split lit and they are none the worse for wear. It's scary though!
Ice therapy is helpful for the swelling & pain. Give her popsicles.
Hi Yvette - Cold compresses will help. And call the doctor. More than likely, it's just going to heal on its own, but it never hurts to double check and make sure the doctor doesn't want to see her. Good Luck!
My 16 month old son is the king of mouth injuries! He tore his frenulum (the little flap thing that connects your lower gum to your lip) in half when he fell last winter and just the other day fell and split his upper lip pretty bad. With the first fall, I did call the doctor and they just said to try ice (which he refused) and give Motrin if he seemed to be in pain & to help with swelling. The good thing about mouth/lip injuries is that they tend to heal quickly!
