Hello Ladies,

I recently took a Pregnancy test...I am late on my period and I ended up getting sick with a cold or something like that. I mean I had a sore Throat, fever...all that good stuff. So i decided to take a test to be on the safe side before I took some medicine. Well the Test i took was First Response...well I took it at night and I saw that it had a very light line showing positive. So I took another one in the morning and it was a tad bit darker then the first one. This all happen on Monday....so I have been sick with this cold or whatever you want to call it. I have not had any symptoms of pregnancy. I don't know if it's because I'm sick and also yesterday I ended up getting the runs...I know not good...so far nothing today just very congested and coughing. I called the doctor and made an appt. to go in on Tuesday morning. But I am so nervous....that I am not pregnant. My husband tells me not to worry but I just don't feel like i am. This will be my second baby and with my first pregnancy I felt it. Am I crazy? I mean no Nausea, vomiting, no peeing constantly. I also lost about six pounds since I got sick.

What can I do next?

You are pregnant! You took 2 with positive results. The part about feeling pregnant...each pregnancy is different. I had morning sickness with the first 2 and nothing with the second 2 (I was thinking the my last 2 were going to be girls but ended up with all boys.) Congratulations!

If a line the pregnant line shows up at all, you are without a doubt pregnant. :) CONGRATULATIONS! I've used first response with all three of my girls and it's always been right. My doctor said that the 1% of the tests that are wrong are false negatives.

Congratulations! There is no such thing as a little bit pregnant--ANY line means you are pregnant!!! My second pregnancy was similar--the only sign that I had was the line on the stick. I did have some mild breast tenderness soon after, but I never got sick--it was great!!! Best of luck!

I did the same thing with my first. If there is any line at all you are pregnant! I must have taken 3 tests! I was sick too and all the coughing and sneezing caused me to spot which terrified me! Everything was fine and I'm sure you will be too! Every pregnancy is different. I didn't feel "pregnant" as early with my second but once it started I was sicker with her than with my first!

M.,

It's hard for me to respond since I don't know how late you are w/ your period. If you are only a couple of weeks late, you wouldn't be feeling pregnant yet. If you are four or five weeks late, then you should probably start feeling pregnant. Since you got two faint positive lines on your preg. test, I would say you are pregnant! Get better soon, & get on prenatal vitamins once your doctor confirms that you are indeed pregnant! How exciting! Good luck!

I agree with taking the digital. You can get them 2 for $13.00 at wal-mart. There is not such thing as a false positive no matter how faint. Every pregnancy is different so if you are not feeling the symptoms that's a good thing. :)
Good Luck!

I haven't read any of the other responses, but I wanted to say something anyway:). Every pregnancy is different, so don't worry!
With my first, I didn't have morning sickness until I was about 3 months along and then it only lasted a month (though it was pretty bad then). With my second, I had no morning sickness what-so-ever.
Don't worry!

First response is my preferred brand actually and yes regardless of how you feel you are pregnant. Who dark the line is does not matter. How dark that line is can vary for a number of reasons. Because of the illness symptoms that you have been having I would do your best to get into the Dr. Today at a care now clinic or similar place because it sounds to me like you might want some tamiflu.

In the morning, the pregnancy hormones are more concentrated in your urine, so that could be why it was darker in the morning than the night before. If you are in doubt, spend the few extra dollars on one of the digital pregnancy test. There is no mistaking the read on those test since they put it out there in words.

Good luck!

You are pregnant! Same thing happened to me, I purchased cold medicine AND a pregnancy test. Never took the meds. A faint line just means you caught it early.

With my first pregnancy I knew I was pregnant b/c of my boobs...they hurt so bad! I'm now 16 weeks pregnant, but I didn't have any symptoms for a few weeks after I had taken a positive test (then the morning sickenss set in, and still hasn't left). My boobs stll don't hurt like they did with my first pregnancy. Everything about this pregnancy is completely different than my first. If you want, take the digital test that says "pregnant" or "not pregnant". It makes it much easier when you're in doubt. It sounds like there's a good chance you are! I know the waiting is the hardest part! Hope you feel better soon!

Hello M.,
When I worked in a primary care doctor. He would tested a woman with flu like symotoms just because he new she was trying to get pregnant. He said that some woman just have flu symptoms to start off with. Every pregnancy is different like eveery child is different. It is unusual to have a false pregnancy result, unless you are taking certain medications. Your pharmacist or doctor would know if the meds your taking can cause that.

You are pregnant. There are no false positives. Even a light line is a reading. Just because you are not getting sick doesn't mean it won't show up later or you may not have it this time. EVERY pregnancy is differant. Watch what you take with this cold sinse you are pregnant. It can still effect the baby. Take care and CONGRATULATIONS.

You're pregnant sweetie! With my second I just had this feeling that I was pregnant...I could tell something was different. I took a pregnancy test and it was negative...then a week later I still felt like something wasn't right and I couldn't remember if my period was late or not. Took another test and a very light line showed up. Needless to say my daughter arrived 9 months later.

Hi M.,

I had the same thing happen to me when I had my first little one and well, I was definitely pregnant. I'm usually spot on when I get my period, so when I was 2 weeks late I became suspicious. I took a really cheap pregnancy test that my sister gave me as a gag gift for my bridal shower and it had a very light line. I was very surprised and in some disbelief, so I went to Walmart and bought a name brand test. I took like 4 tests overall and sure enough, they were all positive. Congrats and make sure you take good care of yourself with that cold.

Yes, I would say that you are pregnant. They are pretty accurate these days. With my second, the only reason I suspected I was pregnant was because of a late period. Other than that, I didn't have any other symptoms. With my first pregnancy, I just knew I was pregnant b/c of all of the symptoms. Good luck!

Oh wow, the exact same thing happened to me! And yes, I was pregnant!!! From what I gathered later, either the line is very faint because you have just very recently become pregnant, or the hormones aren't as strong the second time around. Whatever the case, as a nurse friend of mine told me, "Sweetie, if there is any line there, it's a positive." I did eventually get all of the pregnancy symptoms, but it took much longer for them to arrive than with my first pregnancy. I was in total denial that I was pregnant for three months, even after the doctor confirmed it! Anyway, sorry for the novel here=) But, I would be shocked if you didn't have a new arrival here in about nine months. Congrats!

There is a possibility that you are not far enough along to be getting symptoms yet. My nausea didn't start for a couple of months. If you got 2 positive tests (1 in morning and 1 at night) I would guess you are. It is rare to get 2 false positive tests. It is also not uncommon to have an entirely different pregnancy the second time around. Your body has "been there done that" before and may not be reacting as strongly.

Pregnant is Pregnant... you can't be a little pregnant! The faded line is a line regardless, and you took 2 tests..so I'm thinking you are (maybe it's so early in the pregnancy that the hormones that produce the pos. test result are still low)and every pregnancy is different - people say they were really sick with their girl/boy and not with their boy/girl. Whatever you do, try to stay positive and not worry... if you're pregnant that is not good for the baby.. and no matter what, worrying is not good for you! I wish you the best and hope that you are truly pregnant with blessing #2!

Hi M.,

I also got a very faint posotive with First Response. I would say you are definitely pregnant. Don't take any meds besides tylenol until you see your doctor. Your baby should be fine as long as you are taking your vitamins. Don't worry about the weight loss.....it shouldn't take anything away from your baby but try to get lots of rest and eat lots of fruits & veggies. Congrats on your pregnancy!!!

I had the same deal with my 2nd pregnancy. With my first, I was SOOOOOOO sick. I mean so sick to losing weight up into my 5th month and taking Zofran, sick. So when I found out I was pregnant with my 2nd baby, I was worried because I didn't have the samy symptoms. I ended up a month later with the nausea again, but nothing compared to my first time around. Make an appointment and get the blood work done to confirm it. I doubt that the sex of the baby influences how sick you will be, but I had a boy first and then a girl. My 2nd pregnancy was much better. BUT - get your rest while you can! My son was 19 months old when my daughter was born and I wish I would have been napping with him when I had the chance ;)

Best of luck to you!

Well, I would bet that you are pregnant! I am on number 5 right now, and each pregnancy was different. I am sick the entire time, but dont start getting sick until between 6-8 weeks, so I would not worry that you dont feel pregnant just yet. Plus, you are so focused on being sick that you may not realize the other symptoms are there. I would just focus on getting as much hydration as you can, whatever that means...watermelon, soup, icees..you want it, you eat it!! I might also take another test in the morning and if you get 3 positives you might feel more convinced:) I lose weight with every pregnancy with sickness, and still give birth to healthy, 8 lb, babies. I hope you get better soon, I know that many people (including my own kids) have had a stomach bug these last few days, so hopefully this will pass!! Good luck ~A.~

M.,

Most likely you are pregnant. Even a light line means positive. Also, the fact that you're sick is a sign of pregnancy as well. Especially when we are first pregnant, our body immediately changes it's immune response from a T2 response to a T1 response as to not abort the fetus. So, we then become more prone to get various colds and whatever else is going around. Your body will soon adapt and get stronger, but just know this is something your body is doing to protect your baby. Every pregnancy is very different. I'm currently pregnant with my 2nd and with my first I didn't get any nausea, fatigue or anything! This one threw me through a loop! I virtually have every symptom on the list of what can happen during a pregnancy! Good luck and I hope you get the good news from your doc! Take one of those pregnancy tests that have a digital read-out. It will let you know for sure!

LOL. Sounds like congratulations are in order. Rarely do pregnancy tests give false positives. They can give false negatives, but not usually the other way around.

Each pregnancy is different, and you may not get sick or have the "usual" pregnancy symptoms this time around --- enjoy!!!

Try not to worry. I am pretty positive that if you got two positive tests, you are PREGNANT! It's always good to go to the doctor too to make sure. When I got pregnant with my son, I got one test with a faint pink line and the 2nd test had a darker line also. I didn't feel nauseated, pee a like crazy, or anything until later on in my pregnancy. I also never vomited while I was pregnant. I had a completly normal pregnancy and have a healthy 3 yr.old boy! Good luck with everything and I hope you start feeling better soon!

Hi M.,

In my experience, a faint line still counts as a line. Congratulations! I hope you get a confirmation on Tuesday. It could be faint because you're taking it very soon after your missed period.

BTW, I market a product that is fabulous for pregnant and nursing women as well as their kids (and husbands even!). It is fruits and veggies in a capsule or gummie treat and it really helps the immune system so you won't have to suffer through so many colds or other illnesses. I am actually offering a special $20 rebate on the capsules and $10 on all other products for orders placed before midnight tonight (Saturday, 5/30). Let me know if you would like some info!

Good luck and abundant blessings to you,

It it better to go buy the digital one. That is the best because it will say pregnant or not pregnant. Then you will know for sure and not have to worry. Also make sure you stare at it for like 5 mins just so you know your not dreaming because it will go away after like 10 mins.

It doesn't normally matter how dark/light the line on the pregnancy test is. If it's there, it means it did pick up on the pregnancy hormone. So, most likely....you are pregnant. :) I have two children and it's like I heard all the time when I was pregnant....every pregnancy is different. You could be really sick with one and not at all with the other. You might not "feel" pregnant(yet)...especially if you've been sick. I was a natural worrier when I was pregnant with both my kids and if you are really worried....do what I did...call or go see the doctor so you can get your true answers and make yourself feel better. :)
I hope everything works out well for you. Congratulations! :)
