Have any of you visited LegoLand, please tell me the good and bad things (if any about your trip). What to expect, I am traveling with my mom, and my 8 yo and 5 yo boys. Where is the best place to stay? What website did you book your trip through? What other things are there to see while there? Any information you can give me would be great! Thanks a bunch!

What can I do next?

We took our son there last year after speding 4 days at Disneyland and California Adventure. It was such a great experience after the huge crowds we found at Disney. We stayed at the Homewood Suites a couple of miles from LegoLand. I would highly recommend it. The offer a free breakfast every morning and during the week days they offer a FREE limited dinner. My husband works for Verizon. They have company discounts at some attractions. We got buy a day get a day free at LegoLand through Verizon. We will probably go back next year, but do more things like the zoo and Sea World instead of Disney.

Your family will have tons of fun. Like some of the others have said, pack either a change of clothes or swim suits and towels for the waterpark area. (I wish I had been more aware of that last year.) Have fun!!!!!!!!!!

We recently took our 3 1/2 year old and our 1 year old and our oldest one loved it! I think it's perfect for 3-5 year olds, but the 8 year old would probably still have fun, although like I said I think it's more tailored to younger kids. Legoland is on the way to San Diego Zoo, San Diego Wild Animal Park, SeaWorld, so there are plenty of other things to do in addition to just walking around downtown San Diego and the beach(although it's a little chilly and rainy right now for us Californians). As for lodging, there are a ton of hotels in that area, so any website(travelzoo, priceline, etc) will be helpful.

we visited Legoland over the Christmas holiday. My husband took our 11 yr old son because he is really into legos right now. They were rather disappointed. It was fairly expensive to get in and then they were expected to pay extra to ride some of the little rides. The rides were more geared towards younger children...maybe 3-5 yr olds. Which may be good for your situation, we were just disappointed that they wanted you to pay more after paying so much to get in the gate.

Legoland, and San Diego in general, are really fun for kids that age. They will love Legoland. There are enough rides and things to do to keep them busy for a full day. If you're here in the summer, there is a huge water play area, so bring bathing suits!

San Diego also has an incredible zoo, a wild animal park, and Sea World, not to mention great beaches if you are coming in summer.

I don't know any specific hotels to recommend. Legoland is in Carlsbad, but everything else I mentioned is probably 30 minutes farther south, so you'd have to decide which stuff you want to stay closest to.

Hello, your boys are the perfect age for Lego Land - they will Love it!
My only tips are:
bring a change of clothes, as we got soaked on some of the water rides...there is also a fun water play structure - which they would need a bathing suit for.

If either of your boys gets the Lego Club magazine, be sure to check in there for a coupon that will give him free admission to the park! We had one for each child and that saved a ton of money! (they usually print one coupon per year) (we got a second coupon from a friend)

I can't comment on Lodgings as we stayed in Holiday Inn near Sea World and just drove up to Lego Land from there.

Do be aware that there are lots of shops inside the park selling Legos!! So you may want to set a limit on how much you will spend (as you know Legos are not cheap!)

Have a great time!

My 5 year old absolutely loved Legoland and rated it #1 even after visiting DisneyWorld! The height requirement to ride all the rides is 42 inches tall. If your kids are over 42 inches, they will be able to ride everything in the park.
We stayed in San Diego and this was a side trip about 35 minutes away. We had such a good time we ended up going back for a second day. We used coupons from AAA and we also got the entertainment book for the San Diego area. It's a great way to find deals on attractions as well as local restaurants.

Hi A.,

Your boys are the perfect ages for Legoland. We went when my son Andrew was 6 and we had a great time. All the rides are just wild and tame enough to appeal to that age group. I think they would be too tame for kids 12+. It was Andrew's first taste of a "roller coaster" (again, not very big hills....just scary enough) and he loved it!

Don't know if it's the best place to stay but we enjoyed staying at the Marriott on Coronado Island. It's not too far from San Diego and has a vibe all its own. Other things to see there are Sea World and the San Diego Zoo.

Have a great time!

M.

P.S. On a separate note, my business is expanding and I'm looking for a Key Person interested in earning a 6 figure income with full insurance benefits for their family over the next 2-5 years. Do you know anyone who is ready for change?
