What is the best, least complicated cookbook for healthy food? I have diabetes and need to lose weight.
I have a grill, stove/oven with optional convection, a crockpot, and a pressure cooker.

What can I do next?

Sorry, I don't know of a cookbook... But do you have a Costco nearby? Or check some fancier type grocery stores. Look for chicken sausage mixed with apples or meatballs made from chicken. My friend turned me onto all the varities Costco had. I never knew, just walked on past them. They are delicious and so low calorie. My friend lost a lot of weight by changing her eating. She substituted a lot of what she used to eat. Another example, instead of ice cream sandwich, chocolate graham crackers with cool whip. Good luck.

drmirkin.com has great, healthy recipes for free. It has advice for diabetics too. I use it like a bible. The info on the website is priceless. Ever since my husband attended a lecture by Dr Mirkin and ran back with a sample of the food so that I can prepare the same thing for him, I have used numerous recipes from that website. Nothing gimmicky, no charge. Just a doctor who wants what's best for his patients.
Hope this helps!

My all-time favorite is a classic, written about 30 years ago by a Mennonite lady, "More With Less". Good food, common ingredients, normal ways to cook and easily adaptable.

I absolutely LOVE my Cooking Light cook book. It is easy (mostly) and delicious recipes. The magazine is great too. It will give you lots of great tips on lifestyle modification as well as new recipes every month. I am also struggling with my weight and have also started doing Zumba 2 days a week and have seen some amazing results. It has helped me more than anything! It is SO much fun and a great stress reliever. Lots of churches and gyms are having really inexpensive classes. My church offers it for free! Let me know if you try it! I would love to know what you think.
Good luck and God Bless!!!!

I can't recommend a book. But one of my favorite sources for new recipes is good housekeeping. The magazine or their website. They often feature a section called healthy meals in minutes (1 or 2 a month). They are meals you can prepare in 30 minutes or less and are healthy. Each recipe also includes nutrition information so you can see if it fits within your dietary needs. You can check out the magazine each month or check out all the recipes on the website.

Also, get referred to a Nutritionist, by your Doctor. This is normal protocol for Diabetics.
My Dad was Diabetic.
You NEED to see a Nutritionist.. they will help you per YOUR condition.... and let you know about how to eat and what to eat.

This is also a good thing to know, glycemic index foods which is important for Diabetics:

For exercise/losing weight, just start with walking.... gradually. Even if for only 20 minutes. That is what my Dad did.

all the best,
Susan

They have specific cookbooks for diabetics, I would just hit up a local book store and check a few out. Also check the library and 1/2 price books for some deals. Sometimes in pharmacies they have little brochures that also give some meal options and recipes for diabetics, so next time you're in a CVS or Walgreens go check them out!
