There is a hairline crack in the wall of my crawl space and with the heavy rains in October, it leaked. Does anyone have a recommendation of a service that can fix this? Thank you for your help.

So What Happened?

A million thanks for your responses. I really appreciated all of you taking time to answer my request. This is a wonderful community. I called Permaseal. The consultant came out to give us a quote and we're going to have them fix the leak.

We have been extremely happy with the work done by Permaseal. I also recommend joining www.angieslist.com as we personally make so many good hiring choices based on other member's feedback. We have been members for 4 years and find the service fantastic! Good luck.

Hi J., If you want to fix it yourself for now you can. I had a crack too & we used this stuff I think it was called hydra-cement... or something like that. I went to my Ace hardware for their suggestions during the rains as the water was coming in and it was cracking worse than it was so I needed help then & there. This stuff is meant to be used while the water is coming in. It worked! Eventually we will have it professionally repaired but for now it holds just great. I would try your local Ace or True Value versus the Home Depot or Lowes because the employess really know their stuff & it is worth the extra buck or 2. Good Luck.

Call a roofer. There could be a leak that has been with you for a while and running to that spot. Have it checked now before winter starts it's nastyness and you have a section out of the roof in the cold.

Mark Woosley, a home inspector, also does this type of work and it lasts forever. His phone number is ###-###-####..He lives in north Glen Ellyn. He did cracks that were leaking in my son's house several years ago and stopped the problem. I believe he gives a very long warranty also. Tell him K. S from Baird & Warner recommended him..

Just call Permaseal, I'm sure they're in the phone book. I'm a real estate broker and have used their service at my previous residence also several of my buyers and sellers have used their services, all have been happy. They guarantee their work for 10 years and the guarantee is transferable if you ever decide to sell. They are also very reasonably priced compared to other companies that do similar work. Good luck, stay dry.

Allied concrete is the best. They are not too expensive and don't do any unneeded repairs. We used them for 2 cracks in our basement and have had no water since. They're on the internet.
