I havent' had this situation come up for awhile but my husband cut himself while shaving and it got on his nice dress shirt. Then, my son has something yellow colored on both of his white dress shirts. I have tried OxyClean w/no luck; can't seem to get these stains out.. What else gets stains out? I would rather it be a household product instead of buying another laundry product if at all possible...Thanks Mamas!

What can I do next?

Hydrogen peroxide will work on blood as long as it hasn't been washed (or gotten wet). I know, that won't help you this time, but maybe next! :) Otherwise, I really love Shout Advanced... it rocks!

I know you don't want to buy another product BUT JoAnn's (the fabric store) carries something called the Magic Wand (looks like a giant glue stick). I swear by it for EVERY stain. It's usually found on an end cap by the sewing supplies. Hope you can get those stains out!

Hydrogen Peroxide takes out blood stains and might take out the yellow stain. I had some towels the kids dropped on the basement floor and when I found them they had mildew stains. I tried a small amount of bleach in the washer with the detergent and it did nothing to the stain. I laid them on the bathroom counter top and poured peroxide full strength on the stains and they came out, repeated applications. If that doesn't work on the yellow stain try a bar of Ivory soap or Fels Naptha, it's like a bar of soap you find it with stain removers.

Try a mixture in a spray bottle of 50% Hydrogen Peroxide and 50% Dawn dishwashing liquid. Spray on the stain and wash as usual. The mixture will turn white in the bottle, just so you know! I use it on my baby's clothes on all the poop and food stains. It truly works!

it depends on the color of the shirt (i like the clorox belach pens for white stuff) on colored shirt i use the shout spray on everything but grese stains (for those i use lestoil) unfortunatly once you wash something you set the stain in, some set in stains come out with special cleaners but in my experience blood isnt one of them (i get frequent nose bleeds so i have gotten blood on clothing alot) the best way to get blood out is to wash the stain water right away and once the excess is out add a little soap rub the fabric together a little and rinse again.

With small kids, Im constantly battling stains. For the life of me I cannot remember the name of this stuff.... they sell it at autozone. It's for washing grease off your hands. It comes in a blue and white container. Stuff works great. Just smear a little on the stain, let it soak for about 15 minutes and throw it into the wash. I've even used it on stains that have been washed and dried on. Hope this helps.

I usually have to soak the clothes in oxyclean for a little bit and do some scrubbing. Otherwise use hydrogen peroxide, which is actually the main ingredient in oxyclean but more concentrated. You still need to do some scrubbing. Oh the person that was talking about grease stains was thinking of gojo, which does work for grease stains but if you don't have any on hand try using dish soap.

Try straight hydrogen peroxide. I have a friend who is a veterinary technician, and she soaks her stained scrubs in hydrogen peroxide to get out blood.

hydrogen peroxide works really, REALLY well for blood, especially if you pour it on right when it happens but it also works after the fact as well. Just pour some on and watch the magic :)

DId you wash the blood in cold water and use soap?? You have to use cold water for blood. Yes, hydrogen peroxide will also work well. I have used Dawn dish soap on a lot of my mystery stains and it works well. I'm surprised Oxy Clean didn't get it out! Good luck!

Hydrogen peroxidetakes out a fresh blood stain. Once laundered though, you are stuck with OxyClean or a like product. Try using super hot water - I boil it and out it in with the powder and a small container - bucket or something - with the shirt. Will probably remove both blood (it will remove the blood) and the yello stains, but it depends on what the yellow stains are. Oxyclean works on organic stains - blood/food/grass.

Blood should be able to come out with Shout Out/Stain Treatment unless it has been sitting awhile on the garment. As far as yellow stains are concerned good luck because I've tried everything and some of my clothes are just ruined and unwearable with these stains...If you find something that works let us all know...Sorry my responses is not that helpful.

This will sound weird but I use Woolite carpet cleaner with oxy clean. I had a pair of shorts that had red dye from an otter pop on them and I had tried everything, I had this in my cupboard and thought what the heck, and it worked!! Good luck!

I had a blood stain on a cotton duvet cover that was stubborn too - mainly because it was old and had been through the washer and dryer numerous times before I noticed it. I soaked the spot in hydrogen peroxide. When the H202 in the bowl stopped bubbling, I replaced it with fresh liquid. After a couple hours of soaking and bubbling the stain was virtually invisible.

Hope it works for you!

if you don't find a household product i can make some recommendations for soaking (maybe up to a week), but it would be with something you have to order online.
