Is anyone familiar with Langham Creek Colony town homes? It is located in west Houston near West Little York and Highway 6. The area seems to be quaint and well-kept. I am looking for a safe, quiet, reasonably priced area for my son and I. Also, any information on Cy-Fair school district?

What can I do next?

I have passed those townhomes frequently - but I am not familiar with them. the surrou8nding "Colonies" area is very nice.
I have lived in Cy-Fair ISD for 30 years and both my kids graduated from Cy-Fair schools. I love the school district. All of the high schools in the district (that have been there for a while) at one time or another have achieved Blue Ribbon rating or School of Excellence.
I have found that the parents are well involved in all of the schools as well.
The school programs are very good here and the students perform higher than the average on TAKS and SAT.
The area you are looking in is also near the attendance zone for Cypress Falls High school - which is one of the highest achieving schools in the district.

I do not know that area very well, but I grew up in Cy-Fair schools and now live in the same area. My son will also go to Cy-Fair. It is a very highly rated district, and it's huge! There are already 2 or 3 more high schools than there were 15 years ago because it just keeps growing.

I knew people who moved from different districts and had a hard time adjusting to the curriculum. It does also vary between schools. I started at Jersey Village and transferred to Cy Creek at the end of freshman year, and the GT curriculum at Cy Creek was more advanced.

I agree with one of the previous posters that it might be wise to hire a realtor to help you. S/he would know the area and be able to tell you which areas will be safe for you & your child. Ours helped us tremendously in finding our rent house, and then the house we bought. She was a life-saver because she did all the research for us, and only showed us places she thought would work for us.

Best of luck in your search!

I just looked at a 3-2 townhome over there. They are reasonably priced and seemed quiet. I had a friend that lived there over 15 years ago, and I went to Langham Creek HS for a year. Schools are good, but the area has demographically declined...as all suburbs eventually do. I would have moved there, but someone got approved before me. Hope this helps!

I've lived in this area for over 20 years. The Langham Creek Colony townhomes ARE nice, quite large and seem to be fairly well maintained....BUT there are some apartments across the street that are VERY low-income and incidents of crime have been reported as coming from them. So, I would maybe call the Sheriff's office first to see if they can give you crime statistics about the area. The CyFair schools are pretty good, much better than other districts closer into town. It is a HUGE district but my kids have been happy in it for as I said almost 20 years total. Another subdivision you might be interested in is right down the road from where you are looking, called Villages of Langham Creek (duplexes). West on W. Little York. Or try Austinville, further down W. Little York across Barker Cypress. You can go to www.har.com and plug all those subdivisions in and see what is available to lease. I have a very good Realtor who can help you at no charge to you. Just let me know or email me for more info. I don't want to post too much on here, but a few areas are actually not the best in that general area. You'd want to be careful being a single Mom. I can help with what I know.

Cy-Fair is a wonderful school district - but like all school districts it has its really good schools and no so good schools. Go to http://ritter.tea.state.tx.us/perfreport/account/ to check out area schools. This may help in your decision.
