Lack of Morning Sickness the 2Nd Time Around

I took two pregnancy tests last week and confirmed that I am pregnant. During my last pregnancy I was terribly sick with morning sickness (all day sickness) through most of my pregnancy. I remember feeling sick almost immediately after I figured out I was pregnant, but this time around I don't feel anything at all which has been a blessing so far. Last time I also had all the other pregnancy symptoms by now (sore breasts, need to go to the bathroom constantly at night, etc.) but as of now I'm not experiencing any of those things. If I hadn't taken the test I wouldn't know I was pregnant. My question is, can two pregnancies really be that different? I know it's early (6 wks)and my doctor appointment is scheduled for next week so I'll be able to ask my doctor then, but I wanted to put it out there to get advice before then. Part of me is relieved to still be feeling so good, but another part of me is worrying something might be wrong.

What can I do next?

that is perfectly normal. I have had 3 boys and every one has been different. The first I was bed rested for the whole pregnacany. could not even keep water done. 2nd one was like you. didn't know that I was pregnant until I was 2 months pregnant. The last one i was just a little sick, just had to eat first thing in the morning and that was it. Love it. So not to worry.

Consider yourself blessed not to be sick this time around. You probably had all of those symptoms the first time because your body was basically "freaking out" at performing its new job. Now, with your second, your body knows what it is to be doing and can adjust a bit better...though pregnancies are different each and every time.

I had pre-eclampsia and 6 months of bedrest with my first then came the severe PPD..that was a scary time. With my second, I had the gestational diabetes and the pregnancy itch. I would never wish for that itch on anyone it was awful!! Thankfully, the itch thing is very rare and most women never experience it.

Quit worrying about not being sick etc. Praise God that you are not especially with a 3 yr old to take care of. HE will watch over you and take care of you.

Congratulations on your new blessing to come!!

Yes, two pregnancies can be polar opposites. I was sick as a dog with baby #1 and had all the typical "symptons" most of which were the unpleasant ones. With my 2nd pregnancy I had no morning sickness - never even thought about throwing up! I'm sure your baby is just fine and hopefully you can enjoy this pregnancy much more (especially since you can't afford to be sick with a 3 year old running around). Good luck!

Yes they can! I've had 3 pregnancies and with my first 2 I felt VERY Pregnant early on. With my 3rd, I NEVER felt pregnant until I started showing. Not even one day of being sick!
It was a wonderful pregnancy and the easiest one ever by far!

Congratulations and enjoy not "feeling" pregnant1 : )

Every pregnancy differs. My first one was a breeze, no symptoms, soreness, sickness.. nothing. I did end up having my daughter 8 wks earlier, but she is doing just fine.

Now my son on the other hand. I found out I was pregnant the day I was suppose to start my period. By the second week, I had ALL the symptoms. Especially my sense of smell, it was incredible and EVERY SMELL made me sick. I was always exhausted with absolutely no energy up until my third month. I ended up having him a day before my due date.

Don't worry and best of luck!

LOL - I posted basically this exact same thing about this time last year. I was so worried because I wasn't sick or sore. Just like you, my first gave me all the symptoms in the book (and then some). For me, my prgnancy symptoms kicked in with #2 around 9 weeks. Nothing to worry about. Congratulations!
