Just for Fun - Something for Yourself

If money and/or time were no object, what one luxury or treat would you give yourself as a gift? I think as moms we tend to get enmeshed in our childrens' and husband's needs that we often forget to take care of ourselves and do nice things for us.

So that being said - what would you do/get for yourself?

For me, if money/time were no object I would get a weekly 60-minute massage to unwind and de-stress.

What can I do next?

I would like to have a chauffer. It would be so cool to have someone pick you up and drop you off to all the places you needed to go to all week long.

I would go to Tuscany, Italy with a few good girl friends to take a cooking class for 2 weeks while hubby and parents tag teamed with the kids...yesss!

Back at home..I would have a hunky personal trainer 4 days a week, mixing it up fpr me like sprints on the beach one day, kick boxing the next, etc, etc, etc..oh and he would secretly have a huge crush on me, eventually.

And..I would have a personal chef to cook my family savory, delicious, and healthy dinners, every night. Lord knows I've run out of dinner ideas and time when kids have afterschool activities.

I gave myself my luxury gift long ago - and reorganized the budget so that I still get it. I now have a pair of wonderful ladies show up at the door every two weeks and clean the house. They can accomplish more in two hours than I can do in two days. It takes a huge load off my shoulders. How wonderful it is to be able to count on the house being clean - for a little while, at least!

What a fun question, the responses are great so far :)

I love your idea of a massage... I actually pay my 7 year old for 'foot rubbies'... that's close enough right?

Some ladies mentioned vacations... sometimes I get to run errands without the kids... does that count?!

Lots of women mentioned cars... I have 2 beat up junkers, but they run and pass inspection... I can live with that.

Others wanted to take yoga or cooking classes... I help with the homework ;)

My life is pretty much awesome! I have everything everyone has ever wanted, LOL! It's all about perspective. As for a real response to your question, I'd love a tummy tuck. I had saved the money for it and made the appointment... but when it came down to it, I just couldn't spend the money on myself. I paid for a family vacation instead, and we had a blast. I wouldn't change that for the world.

Back to reality, what I'd really like, is 5 minutes today to take a shower ;)

I also would get a weekly massage!

That's a tough one to answer! So many to choose from! I think I would by myself a car...an Audi R8. I love that car! They cost a pretty penny, so I don't think I will ever actually own one!

I'm with you! I try to get massages as often as possible, but if I had the money and time, I would do it every week (or maybe even twice a week)! There's a wonderful Korean spa near us that has 8 different types of sauna, a steamroom, whirlpools, sleeping cubbies, herbal chair remedies and a lap pool for $25! You can even spend the night! You can also add on scrubs, massages, foot massages, etc. They are between $50 and $100. I have my favorite spa here for massages and facials, but I wish I could go to the Korean spa every Monday when it's not crowded and spend the day there!

Well-and if we're really fantasizing here -we would travel a LOT more with our old nanny coming along! It's not that I don't want to spend time with my children, because I do, but she went to the beach with us last year and it was so nice to go out some nights with only my husband! I also had a few mornings on the beach with just me and a book -HEAVEN! We would spend at least a month in Kauai, ski for a few weeks in Tahoe or Taos and then head off for a spring of traveling through Europe. That is my ultimate!

If money were no object, I would also get weekly massages (they are so good for you to help destress and loosen up the neck and shoulder muscles!), I would have weekly Sat. night babysitter for date nights w/ my husband, I would also do most of my grocery shopping at health food stores, I would take all-inclusive vacations to the Caribbean, and I would have a second home/cabin in the mountains (perhaps Smokey Mountains).

I would buy a horse. I had a horse after college (after I got a "real" job and before marriage/kids)..... I miss it so... I don't even have time for riding lessons any more. Of course, if $ were no object, I probably go so far as to buy a farm and get a couple, and maybe some goats and a couple chickens, too. And of course, an indoor riding arena for when the weather is too yucky to ride outside.

If money were no object, I'd pay off our debt, buy a nice new house, nice new cars so I wouldn't have to worry about them breaking down, and set up big fat college funds for the kids. I don't want much do I? ;) I am the one that does the budget and pays the bills. Let me tell you, having more than enough money to cover them every month would make me so stress free I wouldn't need a vacation or a massage. HA!
If I can't have that then I would just like the freedom to have a few hours a week to myself. And a cleaning lady.

Are we getting really outrageous? I would like a home in a foreign country (I already know the country, city, and even the neighborhood) and a private plane to take me there whenever I choose.

If we are talking possibilities for some money-flush future, I would like to redo my kitchen so I have new floors, new counters, and more cabinets.

Ahh, a trip to Paris. I can spend my mornings sipping coffee and reading books at the sidewalk cafes. I'll stay at a luxury hotel, so I can spend my afternoons getting spa treatments after I get a little shpping & sight seeing in first. For evenings, dine at fine restaurants and sip some wine. Between the massage & wine, I'll get the best sleep that I've ever had. Total bliss....

well, before me, i would take care of a few things around the house. i want to separate girls into their own bedrooms. i would like two beds for them from land of nod. i need new bedding for my room. i would like new bedding for guest rooms.
BUT for me: i would love to have an eye surgery. due to graves disease my eyes (one more so than the other) are bulging. the surgery would loosen the muscle behind my eyes. so this surgery is not covered by insurance because my vision hasn't been affected.
my other thing would be to have a honeymoon finally (with kids) somewhere tropical, all-inclusive. oh wait, back to reality. laundry calling.

I guess the thing I would do for myself is a weekend away at a really nice resort and a spa package :) Then I can get pampered and rest, two of the things I could really use right now. A nice massage, pedicure, and a long nap and day of lying in bed with room service. That sounds absolutely wonderful
