Since I just quit my job, I've been getting really antsy. I'm not the typr of person to just sit around, I like to move and do stuff.
My mom told me if I'm going to be looking for one, I should keep it quiet until they hire me... Is this true??? Can I do that???
This is my first so my mind is scattered all over the place, or should I just wait until after my upcoming appointment??? *confusion*
(Had to quit as my condition was getting to bad, had to quit cuz my boss didn't know what she was doing, they as in who ever is hiring me... Keeping it quiet, as in the pregnancy, I'm young and an idiot and wanting the time to fly by so I can get the pregnancy/adoption over with............ Oh and I was looking for another job before I quit, it never worked out... Plus the random chemicals every now and than were starting to give me a headache)

What can I do next?

It is illegal for a potential employer to ask you if you are pregnant, nor do you have to offer the information.
Is that what you're asking?

Added: Now that I know you are pregnant - thank you - and that you were having difficulty (with your condition), I want to say to please stay home. Having gone through pre-term labor with one baby and having to stay in bed, I KNOW what it means to have trouble with my pregnancy. Since you are continuing the pregnancy, please give this baby the best chance for a healthy start in life. A baby born early and living in the NICU for weeks or months is very hard - and it will be for you AND the adoptive parents, too. You have all the rest of your life to work. Take these months off for the baby's sake.

I don't understand what this means. Can you explain further? Keep WHAT quiet?

If you revamp your question, we can give you better answers (or answers that make sense...)

Sorry, but your question doesn't make any sense.

You quit. That means you're not working and sitting at home getting antsy.

Are you looking for a job?

"They hire me". Who is "they"? Do you have a job offer? What are you suppose to keep quiet about?

added:
At a certain point it's not going to matter because your prospective employer will know you are pregnant. I would not volunteer the information. Under the law they are not allowed to ask you or discriminate, but we all know there are ways around this. There are often questions on an application that will ask if you have any physical limitations, etc. So if you're applying for a job that would require lifting, you'll need to put you can only lift 25lbs.

P.S. For future reference, if you need to quit your job for medical reasons, you may be entitled to unemployment benefits. However, this needs to be documented and you need to still be available to work.

Usually on an application the question "do you have a medical condition that could alter your ability to do your job" is the question that can mean "are you pregnant?"

Keep it quiet that you are pregnant? Yes, you can do that. Employers can not legally ask a woman if she is pregnant before or after they hire her.

Were you looking for a job before you resigned? It was not wise to do that unless you had a plan B. I could see why you're anxious, but the best thing you can do is do the work, prepare yourself for the job you want, send out resumes and then wait. Worrying about it will not get you one.

It sounds like you have a lot of mental turmoil. It sounds like you are going to have someone adopt the child. In MN agencies generally have adoption counselors who help people sort through these things. I hope that the same is true in WI. That person can be a good resource for you to help you sort some of these things out.

I was also slightly disturbed by the "random chemical" comment. I assume you mean that there were chemicals in the work place? I was slightly concerned that you meant chemicals you were using, which, of course, please DON'T!

Definitely keep it quiet until after you are hired because you never know how a pregnancy is going to go. You could have an easy pregnancy and work through your 8th month. You could have a difficult pregnancy and need to quit or take a leave of absence part way through. You could (I hate to say this because it makes me so sad) lose the baby and either need to take time off to recover or be able to continue on without much upset as far as working goes. You don't know any of this yet. So you prepare yourself, but leave your work out of it until it is necessary for them to know-- until something about your pregnancy affects the work that you do for them.

Okay I guess you are talking about being pregnant? Yes you not only can but you should not mention it. If they ask they are asking for a lawsuit if they don't hire you but if you tell them you cannot sue if you are not hired. Not sure if that makes sense.
