JFF You Have a $25 Gift Card Burning a Hole in Your Pocket...

... you've got to spend it ;) It's a Macy's gift card. Do you drag the kids to the store? Go solo? Shop online? Buy something just at or around $25, or do you put it towards a larger shopping trip? GO!!

I ask because I have one and I promised my husband I wouldn't buy anymore shoes for the year (but TECHNICALLY, I said that in 2011, and it's 2012 now) and I usually only shop Macy's for... shoes :) Beautiful high heels... [sigh]

We seriously don't need any home stuff (REALLY)... and I have shoes on the brain, so I'm looking to see what YOU would put it towards!

What can I do next?

I'd shop the clearance rack and see what kind of sweater's I could pick up. I said sweaters, because $25 is a lot on a good clearance rack ;-)

I would window shop online 1st and check for sales and coupons. Then I would go alone!! I would buy something close to $25.

The valentines sales should be starting now, so probably good sales on jewelry, perfume, bathrobes. I would buy myself something like that. When I buy something with a gift card, I want to be a ble to say to the person that gave it to me- hey look at the pretty necklace you bought me.

Like J. V, I would be shopping the clearance section first before looking at anything else. Maybe they have some nice shoes on clearance?

The bottom line is that this was a gift and you get to spend it how you like - even if that means shoes.

I would go WITHOUT the kids for sure! And spend as much time in there as I wanted. They have really cool fashion jewelry on clearance all the time. Ahhhh hours I would spend! :)

I bet their boots are on clearance too! They probably have swimsuits out by now also, you could find one you liked and save up for it!

Oh Lord, I almost forgot about the Mac and Clinique counters!!

If it was a gift card given to you then you should be able to pick out what you want, even if it is shoes.
I perfer to shop without my daughter, then I can take my time and look around. I still have a gift card from Christmas 2010 for Pier One I go in and look but I can never decide what I want, I like all the stuff there.

I'd be more adventurous. I'd look for clothes to go with the beautiful shoes I had now! Macy's sometimes has some very good sales.

If you could, you might just stroll through the store a couple of times first, to get an idea of what they have in stock right now. But when you do the serious shopping, go to the real store, by yourself. You need to take time to try things on, make sure they fit well, and make you (and your shoes) look and feel wonderful. Give the children a break by letting them play at somebody else's house, and make this gift card part of a "me" time. Have fun!

I have this problem too. Get a gift card, then think of all the things you could use it on for the family. I finally realized, you know what? This is MY gift card. I am not taking money from our bills, groceries, kids clothes...etc. It was given to ME, so I spend it on stuff I want.

I do have to say that this year the gift card I received went into the pot for a carpet cleaner...but I have been wanting one for a long time. Take that and the fact we had a dog sitter while we were out of town, and the dog took offense and used the carpet as her personal toilet, I was glad to sacrifice my gift card for it.

Buy the shoes! :)

Since I rarely shop at Macy's I have no idea what I would apply it towards. But I'd definitely shop online or with a friend vs taking the kids with. :)

We had one ($50). We kept to the card amount since that adds to the challenge in our opinion. Last night it bought me my coveted Waylon Jennings box set. Thank you, brother, for the card. Thank you, husband, for putting up with my musical tendencies and letting me get something I love and you are lukewarm about. :)

well, I went the opposite way. I had an Applebees gift card. Dinner fell thru a couple of times since Christmas due to my younger son's school activity schedule.

My older son spent the last couple of days on the road. Before he left, I gave him the card, & he was so thankful. Something that small....& he was full of thanks. A pleasant response....

When I handed him the gift card, I had a handful of other cards. I was shuffling them, & thought....oh, I ought to give him my B&N card, too. & then I thought....no, I might use it....wait & see. 5 minutes later, my Mom came down the hallway & said, "you know, I have this B&N gift card. Can I give it to him before he hits the road?" Toooo funny....Mom & Daughter thinking totally alike. It really scares my DH. He sees his future. :)

Oh, & I'd go for the shoes....they will make you happy!

I would wait for one of the inevitable 20% off coupons that come weekly and hit the store solo. With a $25 gift card and a coupon I would be a really cool accessory. At 7 months pregnant, beads and earrings are my only indulgence!

I prefer to shop alone. (Not with husband, not with kids.)
My husband also wouldn't really care what I bought with my gift card, so I guess I would go to Macy's & find something I like or need.
