JFF - What Was Your 1St Concert?

Mine was Randy Travis. So lame! I remember 2stepping on the floor of the colliseum in my home town during his concert. He stood perfectly still on stage. The only thing that moved the entire time was his hands picking the guitar and his mouth while he was singing. Other than that, he could've been a wax figure. Booooring! My daughters 1st concert was 50cent. Her daddy took and in a limo and they had a great time. What was your 1st concert experience?

What can I do next?

The Rolling Stones at Brendan Byrne Meadowlands arena- Tina Turner opened for them. FANTASTIC.

I was 14 and my mom made me go with my uncle (ok he was the young hip kind of uncle, really hot for Tina at the time. I BEGGED to go - my argument was the Stones were OLD (this was 1979) and they would NEVER tour again, after all they were OLD. I had no idea who Tina was - it was before her comeback album.

The answers make me miss the smell of summer concerts - beer and pot - nothing else really smells like summer.

Hootie and the Blowfish when I was 15. It wasn't too bad. After that, it was Tonic, The Foo Fighters, Tori Amos, Slipknot, The Allman Brothers, The Dead, Steve Winwood, Ben Harper, Widespread Panic, Ryan Adams a few times, Phish 15+ times....I could go on and on. Strangely enough, it was Hootie who opened my eyes to the pure magic of live music!

Midnight Oil at the West End. I was 14, so all I really remember is that they were awesome, someone peed on my mom's shoe in the crowd, and I sat on my big brother's shoulders so I could see the band really well. :)

Monsters of Rock in Frankfurt in the 80's. Snuck out with some friends-we smelled the stadium (beer and smoke) before we saw it-never saw so many acres of leather and long hair. Metallica, Anthrax, Slayer, Flotsom and Jetsom type bands. Before that I only liked Depeche Mode and the Cure type stuff, so it opened my metal eyes :) Soon after were Morrissey, U2 concerts etc. I'm now married to a metal singer. But we both likes all kinds of music.

I'm 44 and I've only been to 3 concerts my whole life! In high school I went with my bff to see Lionel Richie and it was great! In my 20's my mom won tickets to see Liza Minelli...OMG...we got up and left after about 15 minutes! My last concert was with my ex, some all day, multi-artist country singers concert that was good but exhausting since it was all day.

I was still in Junior High School...So, my dad came with us just to check it out...He stood in line like four or five back from us and then stood in the back the whole time....It was freaking cool of him to not be my dad but be there....My BF and I were deaf for two days afterwards:) Small price to pay for a great show.

Depeche Mode at Astroworld in the 80s. :)
My dad's first concert was Aerosmith. I took my little brother to his first concert (my 2nd) to see Aerosmith in 94. I did a little "tour" with my friends when we were 18 where we went to 5 Aerosmith concerts for the Get A Grip tour, one was front row, center stage and he held my hand and I got his bandana.....and a guitar pick from the opening band (Brother Cane). I took my son (age 2) to Aerosmith a couple years ago. I'm hoping they do another tour so I can bring my youngest (and last) baby to Aerosmith also. (Even if it's far away with earplugs). It's just a little family tradition, lol.

Alice Cooper at Jimmy's Warehouse In New Orleans. It was a funky, hot, slightly scummy Warehouse that had the best performers. I think I was 15.

Literally sprayed the crowd down with a firehose.

Power Station in 1985. They were a post Duran Duran project. It was awful because Robert Palmer (singer) didn't tour with the band. Instead it was Michael Debarge (sp?).

OMD (Orchestral Maneuvers in the Dark) was the opening band, though, and they were awesome!
