JFF - What Is Your Wrapping Style?

I LOVE wrapping gifts - love it. I hoard wrapping paper, ribbons, bows and tags at the end of each season to prep for the next. Each year I have a theme or I select a certain paper for each person - this year I am hodge podge of all the left over paper I have amassed. . . so I ask - what is YOUR wrapping style? Matchy -matchy? Glittery? traditional? Cartoons? snowflakes? Other?

What can I do next?

this is the first year I got any cartoon typed paper, and we got Mickey Mouse because my almost 3 year old just LOVES mickey mouse. I also love all the paper, tags, bowa, ribbon etc. I think I have about 10 rolls downstairs. I like to buy after Christmas to get a really good deal. I usually get snowman paper or the pretty glittery stuff.

I have a special paper for each kid, this way they know that everything under the tree with a certain paper is theirs. This year i also incorporated that into other peoples presents. I have 2 rolls for my daughters friends and other kids, 2 rolls for my adult friends and a roll for family. My husband got a particular paper.

Other than that i use those cute stick on labels and i only add ribbon and bow to the very special presents.

Oh and santa has a special wrapping paper he uses too, they have never seen this paper.

USUALLY, my presents look like they were professionally done. Of course, I buy plain, boring wrapping paper, but SANTA, man, he goes all out! Bows, ribbons, you name it, they're gorgeous [pats self on back] ;)

This year, I've had VERY limited time to wrap everything, so it kind of looks like I paid a bunch of 4 year olds to do it, LOL!!!

For the kids I use "cute" paper with lots of bows. For the adults I use "pretty" paper with curling ribbon. I love to wrap too. This year my 7 y/o has decided he wants to help. I am having a hard relinquishing my duties :)
Santa always wraps in Santa paper and Santa tags ~ the only gifts under the tree that have santa anything on them.
I too stock up on paper, ribbons, tags and bows at the after Christmas sales!

I LOVE wrapping gifts unless it's an odd-shaped one that won't look nice when wrapped with paper. He goes into a gift bag saved from years past. I don't think I've ever purchased a gift bag in my life--never needed to!

I feel like a slacker this year because I didn't do bows. Our new tree sits so low to the ground that they would just get smooshed, so I left them off. Boo!!

I am a freak about it too. I only do (what to me is ) beautiful paper. No cartoon paper since mine were babies/toddlers, and even then it needed to be pretty. And yes, such things did exist. :)

I tend to stay away from ready made bows and use lots of ribbon. The kind with wires so I can make it STAY pretty.
And all the paper is pretty, and usually something more simple. Rare is the paper that is just one solid color and that is it. Usually it is color on color (red foil with red writing or red crimped shapes). LOVE wrapping pretty gifts. :)

I thought I would love working the volunteer fund raiser wrapping paper booth for my kids' school a couple of years ago.... but I wasn't happy with some of the paper choices and it was a bit of a "downer" for me. It was all stuff I didn't find pretty. :(

I love pale blues with silver accents, and big fluffy pale blue bows; or bright green and white stripes (glossy paper or foil paper) with big white ribbon or ribbon/bows. I too hoard paper. I have donated I don't know how many yards of it over the years b/c I just can't throw it away and run out of space for it all. One year I wrapped every single present under our tree (for extended family and friends included... so a LOT of presents--we're talking probably over 60 gifts total) in a completely different paper. No two presents were in the same paper.

I like and do the wrapping. It's usually paper that went on sale LAST year after xmas. If the gift is from us, could be Dora xmas paper, could be snowflakes.... you never know

I love wrapping and am known for being over the top.. so are my inlaws.. We all place a box in the center of the room to collect and reuse the bows, the boxes and the bags.

Many times, I like to attach some sort of ornament, sweet or something to the bow as part of the gift.

Did you know you can iron the tissue paper and hang it on a pant hanger for storage and it will look brand new?!

I know, I am a freak about this stuff.. I love beautiful packages.

I WISH I had actual wrapping style. You would think that, being an artist, my gifts would be wrapped more creatively than they are. Usually I just let my kids wrap any gifts I buy because they LOVE it. That means that all the gifts are wrapped in slightly crumbled Winnie the Pooh or Disney Princess wrapping paper, with tape all over the place, multiple gift tags, lots of string in different colors taped on, lots of bows pasted all over, and the name of the person it is to is usually misspelled :) Oh well, it is the thought that counts, right?!

If there is anything I am type 'A' (anal) about in this house it's wrapping presents! I can spend 30 + minutes with the absolute perfect wrap job (symetery for the pointed ends, sharp folds, ect) knowing it will be ripped to shreds in 10 seconds and it doesn't bother me at all!

I gravitate toward shiny yet simple paper because I love to dress it up with ribbons and bows. Also because then I can sometimes use it as birthday or anytime paper too. I buy new paper every year and use both new and old until it's gone.

This year, with 3 kids and one on the way, I did let each of the kids pick out their own paper and all of their gifts are wrapped in it. So one got snoopy, one got Cars, the baby got last years leftovers, and everyone else got gorgeous yet simple new paper.

I love wrapping!!!

I hate wrapping. I consider it to be a necessary evil. I buy paper from Big Lots and add nametags and call it good!

My wrapping style is Dirty South. ;)

I like solid colors, foil, shiny or a repetitive pattern. Not too busy. I like the pow to come from the ribbon and bow.

For the kids I get thier favorite cartoon characters.

I am alot like Victoria. I do this for all gifts year round. I use ribbon with wire in it and make the bows..wrap it around the gifts, etc. I prefer heavier weight papers with foil or just nice colors...no cartoons and I rarely even find a santa shape one I like...but I look! I, in general, like less fussy, contemporary, clean lined stuff in all things...sort of minimalistic (no flowers, busy patterns, etc)...I like shadowed patterns, etc (like red on red). Then I add the glam in the ribbons and bows and tags!

But I do try to do an even mix of red, white/silvery, golden, blue and green color pallete overall and especially if its going under one tree (like at my inlaws, etc). I don't have as many gifts to buy these days (we do several name draws), but I will wrap them nicely!

I love wrapping gifts and choosing paper, and doing fun things but to be honest with you I SUCK AT IT!!! jajajajaja
either I don't cut it straight or enough or something goes wrong, there's always a "patch" or two in my gifts. On the upside everyone knows which gifts are from us ;)!.
I love shiny stuff so, I always use that metal paper or that 3d paper.

We are largely gift bags for everyone outside of the house but I'll use some paper for some odd things, whatever we have floating around or I'll pick up a roll or 2 if we don't have anymore random things. For Santa we leave out our stack of reusable large felt gift bags. Santa doesn't wrap anything at all.
We don't put bows or ribbons on anything because we have cats that eat it if we do.
I'm not big on the whole wrapping thing.

All of Santa gifts are wrapped in the same wrapping paper...usually with Santas on them. The rest...just whatever roll I grab. But I use many rolls cause I like having alot of different colored presents under the tree. My mom used to use one kind of wrapping paper for me ...one for the other sister and another for the other sister.

At our house, Santa leaves his gifts wrapped in paper that has Santas on it (but the realistic picture looking Santas, not the cartoony ones).

As for the presents from Mommy & Daddy, the presents for each kid are wrapped in the same wrapping paper (so my daughter's gifts will all be wrapped in a wrapping paper that suits her, such as a particular cartoon character - there may be 2 different papers used but her gifts are all in those). We started doing that after my son was born since he couldn't read (he's 3 now and can read his name, but up to last year, he couldn't), he could still identify his own gifts.

For my nephew, we usually wrap it in the same paper as what we use for my son or a leftover generic Christmasy paper.

We don't exchange gifts with the adullts, so no worrying on wrapping anything else.

I am all about being eco-friendly, so my gifts are wrapped in recycled paper. I really like to use the Sunday comics since they are in color. I reuse old gift bags and use newspaper or left over tissue paper to stick out of the top. Last year I started using old fabric scraps to wrap boxed gifts. Those are very fun! And I always save ribbon as well to make my own pretty bows (:

Well usually we have Disney paper but this year we could not find boy disney paper that would work. But did find some cute stuff for them. I will wrap the boys in that and the girls in Tinkerbell. I usually wrap all gifts. Most the time even mine. The kids like to help me but normally its just me. Even when I was little my mom would have me wrap everything. When it came to my gifts if she could put them in boxes she would and have me do them too. Sometimes we will used the paper from the year before and sometimes we wont. Occasionaly we will find some on clearance after Christmas for the next year. Thats always nice! Then for our gift from santa that needs wrapped we get wrapping paper with santa on it.

Ah, my husband is famous for doing "bringies" in our family. As in he "brings" the gifts in the bag the store gave us.

I hate wrapping, and I stink at it. Inevitably, I cut the paper too short and then have to use a smaller strip to cover the open patch because I don't want to waste any paper. Otherwise, I will just reuse gift bags we've received in the past, because I'm too cheap to buy my own. I'd rather spend money on the gift than the wrapping.
