I love romance! So I was just wondering what everyone has planned for Valentine's Day.

What can I do next?

Nothing. We don't find anything romantic about Valentine's Day. I don't think something is romantic when it's expected. We celebrate each other throughout the year (which I find very romantic), and ignore Valentines Day.

I'm a hopeless romantic myself... [sigh] ;)

I'll probably go to the kids school to do Valentine's and stuff, then make a special Valentine's day dinner and dessert for the whole family... if my husband's smart, he'll find a sitter and take his wife out for a drink or two ;)

I'll just be happy if the girls don't have homework that day!!

We are celebrating early since his sister is having the kids over for the weekend. We're going to the Ripley's wax museum and to eat at Saltgrass for dinner and if I'm not pregnant by then, I'm sure we'll enjoy a few drinks and play darts or watch a movie.

Oh my gosh - did you read my mind or what?! I was just talking to my older two about this!

Valentine's in our house is a family event. It's such a hallmark holiday, but we still like to have fun with it. I don't expect big gifts or a dozen roses, but they are always nice.

Last year I took the kids out of school and we went to an early showing of Justin Bieber's movie the day it opened. Then I took the kids to Build-a-Bear. Afterwards hubby met us at Macaroni Grill for dinner :).

A few years ago we took the kids to Disney on Ice and then dinner somewhere.

We can't do anything big like that this year because of all of the travel we have coming up - but we want to do something still. I'm just not sure yet. Maybe we'll find a cool museum we haven't been to in DC yet. Or something like that. I think the memories we are making with the kids are awesome! I just need to come up with the right day and event :).

My love has told me nothing more than that we'll be going out on the 14th...and again on the 17th.

That's all I know.

When I asked what I ought to wear, I was told "that's to be determined."

Ack! To be determined?! I need to decide which shoes and which dress?! I can't make my decisions based on a TBD dress code!

I agree with Bug. We never celebrate Valentine's Day, and I like it that way.

No idea! We have a weekly date night on Mondays so we'll go out that night and celebrate. Maybe dinner and a movie. Or there is a new sushi place that I wanted to try out.

We will probably go out to dinner somewhere, nothing fancy. I love spending Valentines Day with both of my favorite guy's....my husband and my son! :)

Actually, hubs and I was just talking about this last night. He usually surprises me with a nice new restaraunt to go to but I told him I wanted to go to Melting Pot since I've never been. But the thing is, the 14th is on a Tuesday and we have the kids...sooooo on that day I will make us all something special for dinner and dessert. Normally the kids go to our ex's every other weekend but my cousin is coming out on the 16th with her kids for 4 days so we will have the kids 3 weekends in a row (my ex will let me have mine so they can see their cousins)...so that puts "our" vday celebration off until either WAY before or WAY after...but that's ok. It will be worth the wait. =)

I wish I knew! It sucks because it's on a Tuesday, and with hubby's new job he has been working 12 hour + days and so it's hard to plan anything. Soooo sadly, I will most likely be spending it like today and any other day, with my little monkey, until hubs gets home around 8pm. Same with my birthday which is exactly a week prior on Feb. 7th. So if any plans WERE to possibly be possible it would be up to me. Lol.

Last year was great though, he got me flowers, and sent me to a day spa for a facial and a mani pedi. *sigh* I wish that was this year too! I could use more! Lol.

Have fun ladies!

My husband is so lucky that I'm low maintenance! LOL We don't have anything special planned. It's kind of hard with a kindergartener. We'll probably just be at home doing homework, eating dinner, bathtime and then bed. We're both usually tired by the time we get our daughter to bed. Since our daughter started kindergarten we really don't have any free time in the evenings. We used to be able to go out to eat once in a while during the week, but that interferes with getting homework done now so we almost always go straight home.

i told my husband just yesterday how i miss v-day pre-kids. i love that holiday (my fav. after christmas). but now it's special because i make it special for the kids. and we always end the day by going to a japanese restaurant with the kids. so no sitters for us.

Thanks for asking----I need to call my sitters and forgot until now!!! But is it wrong for me to think it's SAD that people don't celebrate just because they think it's "lame" or "hallmark"? We think it's just another excuse to do what we love doing. And we make it more sentimental---we have a date or two every month, but we make more sentimental stuff from "back in the day" or more "special" stuff on V-day. I think people miss out when they just don't do anything, in the name of being too cool for the Hallmark holiday, but that's just me I suppose.
On 2/12 we're going to a Cooks & Books at the Westin's resort/spa: an event to benefit the adult literacy group here. There will be a pre-party with cocktails, music, and a buffet, then the event where we have access to well known local authors, hear readings, get books signed, watch the chef competition, and unlimited tastings as we roam around sampling the goodies and visiting with some friends. Just good "grown up" fun, and we're hanging out with another couple.
On 2/13 we're going to have a couple drinks and try a restaurant I've wanted to visit for awhile for an early dinner, then going to the symphony! Woohoo! Been ages since we've gotten to go to the symphony (nearly 2 years), and that will be a wonderful date night!
On 2/14 I have little V-day gifts for the other guys in my life (our 5yr old and 2yr old) and little notes for them. We're going to get photos made of the boys since we walked out of our scheduled Christmas portrait session (it was running 3 hours behind---YIPES!) SO we'll do that together while daddy is at work, and then have a mother-sons date for lunch at Chuck E Cheese. At dinner time, I'll dress up "special" and have "our CD" playing, and I'm cooking Jer's favorite: Crawfish Etouffee, french bread, and a cheesecake in a heart shaped pan. (The meal that got his attention when we were dating, lol). I mentioned the special CD and cheesecake to my 5 year old just now and he rolled his eyes and said "Oh great. More dancing and kissing". Yep buddy, that's right! :D

My daughter was born on Valentine's Day so, we take her every year to a pizza place in town that makes heart shaped pizza. :) It is a family tradition and my parents and my sister and her family always go with us.
