JFF: It Wasn't Horrible! (May Be Tmi)=updated

So I went today and got a Brazilian wax. Let me tell you, if you've never had it done and wondered about it...it's really not as bad as you might think. Sure there were a couple times when I had to breath it out, but I was surprised how quickly it went, and at the fact that it wasn't as painful as I expected it to be. (I probably made it out to be something horrible, and it didn't live up to my expectations, lol!)

So, what have you done that you thought would be horrible, but really wasn't?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

My last two deliveries were natural (one in a birth center, one at home) and they were awesome! Yeah, there was some pain, but I was laughing and joking through the whole thing. (Heck, the last one came so quick that hubby was on the phone with the midwife and she asked how far along I was...I told her I was prairie dogging (from Rat Race)...hubby just told her the baby had hair.)

@Sunny, it's called a hysteosonogram. I've had three for my surrogacies. They make them sound so scary, but they're nothing really.

As far as the embarrassment goes, the waxer was so cool, I never felt uncomfortable ever. She talked to me through the whole thing. We talked about our families, books we've read, all sorts of things. I figure she's a licensed esthetician, she does this for a living and I'm sure I'm not the craziest thing she'll see today. (She even does manscaping/bikini/Brazilian waxes on guys!) Besides, my OB/Gyn is way more up in my business than she was! If you're thinking about having it done, make sure you research where you're going, read reviews...and do what I did. Go get your eyebrows waxed first to see if you like the person, lol!

I know there are moms out there who will hate me for saying it, but giving birth without pain meds was not that bad! Certainly not as bad as everyone says, not "the worst pain you will ever feel," unfortunately I have been in far worse pain than childbirth! But I think the hard part for me with getting a bikini wax would just be the embarrassment! Although, as a massage therapist I have had many people say the same thing about being too embarrassed to get a massage and I always say don't be! I am not the slightest bit judgmental about the body types of whomever I am giving a massage, I really don't care one bit!

For me it was giving birth...I didn't have any pain meds with either of my three kids...just didn't need it...don't get me wrong it hurt, but I guess just knowing that the pain has to stop at some point in time helps me get through it...that and fast labors.

I really don't think I could do a brazilian wax though! Yikes

Put me in the "I'd really like to try it, but I'm chicken" category too.

Too chicken to try it too. Not so much for the pain factor but the embarrassment factor. I'm 44 and have had 2 kids and just don't that I want anyone other than hubby poking around down there.

To answer your question I had an endoscopy (upper GI) Friday and it wasn't bad at all. They hooked me up to the oxygen and 3, 2, 1 I was out!! I had a little bit of a sore throat for a couple days but I've suffered worse sore throats than that!

Haha... When I was in labor with my son, I didn't have any drugs. I didn't feel any pain until I was 5cm, then it was a 'I can handle it' pain, and then at 7cm it was a 'give me pain meds NOW'... But I was too far along for the drugs to give ANY relief. Although they did inject something into my perineum to numb it for the episiotomy... I am going to ASK for that next time, just to avoid the "ring of fire". That was the one thing that I was DREADING during my first and I didn't experience it, so I'm still terrified of it. Late in my pregnancy I had a horrible toothache, and told hubby that I would take labor/delivery over a toothache any day (Even though I had never experienced labor or delivery). Anyways, during the 'give me pain meds NOW' phase of labor my fiance leaned down and whispered in my ear... "Are you wishing that you just had a toothache right now?" Oh my god, I wanted to punch him. Lol

I don't recall what the name of the procedure was, but at the OB/GYN after I had miscarried, they told me I was going to need to have a long stick thing go up in me, fill my uterus full of saline so they can do some type of ultrasound. The way it was explained I was scared to death! I even made my hubby come with me to hold my hand and it actually was quite pleasant. I'd rather have that procedure done again vs. a pap smear!! Another one I had was getting my ear wax flushed, thought it was going to hurt like a beast and turned out, it was like a spa therapy with the warm water they'd gently send through my ear canal, wouldn't mind doing that again either:)

Colonoscopy for sure. I was so worked up over it and it is NOTHING because they give you drugs. Seriously, it is a nice nap and then you are done.

I do give it up to you ladies who have had birth with no drugs, yikes! I think I would try the brazilian wax first ;)

Thanks for the info. I have been considering this & have been curious. Getting my nose pierced wasn't as bad as I thought. That's the only thing , I can think of. Oh , thought of another. I had a tonsilectomy a few years ago, everyone said it would be HORRIBLE. .. It wasn't. Just a sore throat.

I thought that my first tattoo or piercing would be horrible, neither were and the first was a 3.5 hour ordeal. I agree with the others who've said that giving birth sans medication wasn't as bad, it was painful of course but it didn't last forever.

Well I guess I'm in the giving birth with mo meds club too. Wasn't so bad, and it was really fast. Also, just in the last few months, have started getting cortisone shots in my knee. Just before they gave me the shot, they sprayed this freezing cold spray on my knee that had a prickly feeling to it, and I didn't feel the needle go in, thank the Lord. I literally was crying on my way to the doctor I was so scared, so this was a blessing to me. I love that spray!!!

Don't really have an answer, but I'm glad to hear someone didn't think a Brazilian wax was all that bad. I've been considering it (actually posted on here a question about it not that long ago) but so far have just been too much of a chicken!

I have to go along with the others who said giving birth with out any pain meds.

None of mine were very long though, thankfully and yes it did hurt and you could definitely feel the baby coming down the birth canal but Im glad I did them with out meds.

Although with #4 who was induced, it was the most painful out of any of the others! I told them I wanted an epidural because the pain came on so fast and so strong! I "knew" that it was still going to be a bit and the pain would get stronger... but my little guy had other plans, from the first pain until I had him was only 15 mins... the epidural and my son came into the room at the same time lol.

My root canal. The worst part was that I had to have it re-done 7 or 8 times due to severe complications, so it was super annoying to have to keep going in. But it was painless and honestly not even uncomfortable. Plus the gas makes it almost worth it, lol!

Ha! I gave birth without drugs to the world's biggest-headed baby, and it hurt to buggery!

Something that I expected to hurt was needles in my gums. Hardly felt anything! I'd take gum needles anyway over having a dentist clean my teeth!
