I don't know if embarrassing was the word but is the first word I think when I see my picture from highschool.
My mom has a picture of me that she must have hide from me growing up or other way it wouldn't exist now.
I am like 14 and I use to tease my bangs sooooo much that I looked like I have a HUGE nest on my front, LOL.
Ohh gosh, I can't believe I felt so "cool" like that, the bigger and the messiest the better, I think people could see me before I turn the street because my huge bangs.
I start to hate the picture less as I grow but back then I wanted to burn it!
Another one was my almost black lips, l wasn't a "dark" person (is that how you call the teens that dress all in dark?) but I remember that at one point brow lips were in, only that I took it to the extreme.
Ohh how many times my mother tried to suggest to tone it down or to brush a little my bangs, but Pleassssse, what she knew about what was "in", lol.

What is your "what I was thinking?" or " I can't believe that was cool?
and do you kept pictures or do they all "disappear", lol.

What can I do next?

I had these horrible dresses that looked like they came out of 1960...and i am not talking in a good way. I love hippie/60's-70's attire, but I dont know if i was even hitting it in the ball park!!!

How about a short hairstyle perm that resembled a mullet, metallic pink glasses, and neon floral leggings. I was posed on a white stepladder with a splattered paint background. Oh yeah, it's the worst picture ever!! My husband gets a good chuckle every time he sees it!

There is a picture of me when I was about 11 that, to my horror, surfaced in a family xmas eve white elephant...and I have a huge family. It's that bad - it made a great white elephant gift. :( I'm wearing an oversized t-shirt with tweety bird (what??!), flowered jam shorts, and my hair is up on only one side. And the worst part is, when I looked at that picture, I remembered that this used to be my favorite outfit! Things didn't really get better until I was about 20.

I went through the grunge phase- baggy jeans, baggy t-shirts with aliens on them, flannel shirts, and I dyed my hair a crimson red that looked horrible! I also shaved the back of my head! Oh, what was I thinking!!

Okay, here goes. I decided it would look really "cool" to wear a cloth belt from my pants as a headband. Yes, that's right, a headband. Groan. Thank goodness I don't have any pictures of that to remind me. I do however, have pictures of the dutchboy haircut I had 12 years ago. Why oh why didn't anyone tell me how awful that looked?

PURPLE HAIR!!! I am blonde and it faded to a greyish color real fast. Horriable! I tried hot pink next and it worked so much better (I was 20) my boss at work said I looked like a cute anime charecter.

Gouchos with cowboy boots, big permed hair and pants that came up to my breast with fat waist bands, a tucked in shirt and shoes and big earrings that matched the shirt. Everything that I wore in the 80's was bad. I thought I was so hot!

Then the 90's came along and I thought it was cool to wear boys boxer shorts as shorts! I had a pink pair with fish on them that I loved!

A girl in my high school class used to dress like Boy George every day.

Oh my, lol. I went through a cowgirl phase. Super tight jeans on my J. Lopez looking backside, so not cool! A wide brimmed Stetson that I saved up for, and loud shirts. I even got my senior pics done in that damn hat! The funny thing is that I ran into an ol boyfriend a while back and he brought up that he remembered a particular pair of jeans that was skin tight and had silver buttons down the side. I had forgotten all about it! He was making fun of me but admitted he thought that they were hot at the time. Lol

Ohhh geezzzz....can I just say everything from 8th grade - 11th grade?
I would like to give honorable mention to these horrible accessories/clothes...
Black rimmed/light purple club glasses. Wearing my hair in two buns on each side of my head (with the two strings of bangs of course), thick black eye liner (can you say racoon), berkinstocks....with socks, tye dye teeshirts, double rings on every finger, huge ball chain necklaces, lots and lots of flannel, gothic style high heel mary janes, Yellow lense sunglasses, my ratty marilyn manson tee, hair colors half red half normal and greyish pruple, completely blacked out eyelids, camoflauge, lots of hemp necklaces.
I also started my love of vintage clothing...too bad it was mostly mens 70's shirts, which is way off the mark, lol. I did the dark lips (actually it was just dark lip liner and pale lips) for about a week...here it was mostly hispanics that did it (my best friend was and convinced me to try it), yeah...not to good when you already look like casper. I still know her and we still laugh at that!!!

I used to be the biggest tomboy. I used to wear my brothers clothes. I was always in baggy jeans and super loose tshirts!! And omggg, when I developed boobs, I did everything in my power to hide them. I had long boring hair parted down the middle.

Not much has changed. I'm still in jeans and a tshirt, but now they're a bit tighter. My hair is still up in a boring ponytail!!

In my defense though, some of the things I used to rock as I was developing my own sense of style, actually got cool at some point... the big flowy hippy shirts and leather headbands, ridiculously huge purses, the oversized sunglasses... I used to wear these things in high school to be funny, but what celebrity DOESN'T wear big sunglasses now!?

Oh you fancy, HUH!

I was about 18 and decided to cut my hair like Demi Moore in Ghost that wasnt bad enough I let it grow a little bit then shaved the back and died it purple so when I would put it in a little tiny pony tail the bottom of my head wa bright purple, ripped jeans and oversized shirts. This is what I looked like when I met my husband it still amazes me what I was thinking.

ugh it has to be the ripped jeans, awful awful I can't believe I went out of the house like that. I looked like I had been in a street fight...with tigers...

also the super dark lips, WTH???I looked like Morticia Adams and my hair is black and straight as a rope so it completed the look even more.

***Added*** there was a girl in my class that had the super huge messy bangs and she was the coolest girl in the classroom, for real. I see pics now and we all laugh but back then she was THE sh1t. LOL
