Hey mama's.
There are so many rumors out there about if you get chunky all over and not too sick its a girl, if you are super sick its a boy, If you are all belly its a boy, if you have a great pregnancy its a boy, and I can go on! Lately Ive been dreaming that I am having a little boy. Do you moms think that means anything? Does the whole too sick, too thin, too fat thing play a role in the gender? My doctor made a remark when I had my ultrasound, I said that I havent been too sick and I feel pretty good, then she said well maybe its a girl? I freaked out, because duh I want a girl! Do you think dreams come into play? Im just a little curious with what you mama's have to say. :)

I think my sister who got chunky and sick with BOTH her boy and girl would disagree. And my best friend, and my other friend who had a boy and didn't get chunky or sick, and my other sister who got chunky and sick with the girl, but not the boy.

Myths. They are all myths.

I was super-home-IV's-and-in-the-hospital sick with my girls. But not with my boys. I slowly gained more weight with each pregnancy regardless of whether I was carrying a boy or a girl. BUT I was all belly with my boys than I was with my girls. But that's just me. I tend to do the opposite of what's "normal." =) Good luck!!

It's all old wives' tales! I felt horrible and gained weight everywhere with both of my boys. My body seemed to be on a fat manufacturing mission! I dreamed with the first for almost 4 months that it was a girl (and that was strange because I always thought I would have boys and didn't really care either way, but generally leaned towards it being a boy -however I was convinced the first was a girl -until he wasn't!).

Nope. I was SOOOO sick, and you couldn't even tell I was prego until I was 8 months along. My boss confessed to me that he though I was faking a pregnancy because I didn't show until soo late! Even when I did start showing, everyone told me I was having a boy because of the way I carried, because I didn't gain a lot of weight, sickness, etc. I have a beautiful little girl.

I dont think any of those things matter. Everyones body is different and we gain weight differntly. Go with your instinct it worked all three times with me. My first one I knew would have blue eyes and he did. My second I knew even though he was only 1/4 hispanic he would have that awesome tan and he did and my last one I knew was going to be a red head and he was and yes I knew all three of them were boys. My last one everyone was oh its a girl his dad already has two girls its a girl and I was like nope I am giving him his first boy and sure enough it was a boy

Ok well I was chunky before I got pregnant. I gained about 20 right before I found out (found out at 6-7 weeks). Then.....I got super sick, and kept losing weight. This lasted the entire pregnancy. I had a girl.
In the end....I was thinner after having my baby then I was the few months before I was pregnant.
Another rumor I heard about gender while pregnant was if you're face is broken out with acne you're having a girl...because all your beauty is going to the baby. If your face is clear your having a boy. My face was super clear my entire pregnancy....so it didn't apply to me.

I had a girl with my last pregnancy and i was mostly belly and had morning sickness from the time I conceived to the three to four month mark. Not much heartburn either. I don't know what the sex of this baby is since too early but I so far (knock on wood) haven't had morning sickness and such...

hey i am curently pregnant with my second girl, and both pregnancy are kind of same. this time i was having more morning sicknesess than with the first one. i knew i was having a girl both times, but i have no idea why, i just had that feeling. with my first pregnancy i gained like 25 pounds, and now i am 30 weeks and only gained 10pounds. so i dont think that if you gain too much weight will be a factor. my BFF is pregnant with a boy and she gained 50 pounds by now, and she is 32 weeks. i wish you a good luck during and after the baby :)

I had morning sickness for an entire 7 months of pregnancy with my son I was all tummy it stuck out he was high in my ribs & his heart rate was in the normal lows after him my second was a girl I only threw up when I ate Nectarines, she was head down low into my pelvis & heart rate normal high,my 3rd she was great no sickness at all she was low in my pelvis but was breech all the way up to the last week of pregnancy. All mine were very active I didn't crave meat products ate fresh/raw/cooked veggies & fruits I did have a sweet tooth with all 3 too.
My dreams were all over the place when I was prego with my girls all I dreamed about & day dreamed was how I would do their hair dress them how to decorate their rooms will it all be Pinks & Purples,my kids are all easy going.
I also looked into the chinese charts on the day you conceived or the due date & it's suppose to give an accurate boy or girl reading I did that with all 3 & they were all correct. Also having many sonsograms during my pregnancies it was reassuring to know that all of them said it is a boy, girl, girl so I had no worries that there was a mistake & internally I knoew what I was carrying it was a bond an instinct that I just had.

Hah! I got chunky with my first and she was a girl. However, I got chunky again with my second, and even worse with the 3rd and they are both boys. I'm still chunky 20 months later!!! I never had morning sickness with any of them. The only thing I had was horrible heartburn all three times, and they all had TONS of hair on their heads.

Well with my first 2 girls I was super sick and never gained too much weight. About 27 pounds both times giving me an delivery weight of 142. Now I'm 36 weeks pregnant with my third. I'm having another girl but this time I wasn't sick at all. I have only gained 20 pounds so I weigh 130 right now. So yeah I kinda don't believe in being chunky means your having a girl....at least not in my case.

I had 2 girls and hardly gained any weight with both. (22-25 pounds). I also had bad morning sickness with both. My friends with boys seemed to have much easier pregnancies. The heart rate on girls is much higher, so u can check that.

Well, I had a girl first, then two years later I had a boy. I really didn't notice a difference at all in my pregnancies: I didn't have much of an appetite, but never had morning sickness with either one, and I gained the same amount of weight with both. So I don't see much in these ways of guessing...but it's fun to talk about and speculate! Are you planning on finding out the gender beforehand? We kept it a surprise with both, which was so cool to find out at that moment when they were born. But really hard to wait! :-) Congratulations on your new baby!!

I've got 2 boys and a girl. I was barely sick with my 2 boys and threw up all the time with my girl so I don't think that works for me.
I gained the most overall with my first, a boy. I gained about the same amount for my second and third-boy & girl. My girl decided to sit sideways a large part of the third trimester, turning and staying head down just at 36 weeks or so and was born at 39ish, so just in the "nick of time". She kept spinning but mostly liked sideways. This meant I took on a good deal stranger shape then I did with my 2 boys but I wasn't showing it any differently anywhere else but the belly then I did with my boys. I didn't look pregnant anywhere but my belly for all 3 really.
I don't think there's anything to any of that or I"m just the odd ball ;)

I wasn't sick at all with either pregnancy and I have a boy and a girl. My first was a boy, every one of the wives tales was telling me he was a girl, I had dreams he was a girl all the time too. I gained more weight when I was pregnant with my son but I think that was because it was my first pregnancy and I thought I had the go ahead to eat everything and I never exercised. My belly did look different though. With my son I carried all around and with my daughter my stomach stuck out like a basketball! Oh and they say if you have a lot of heartburn your baby will have a lot of hair, but with my daughter I never had heartburn and she had a full head of hair! The wives tales are fun when you don't know what you're having, but I wouldn't take them too seriously!

I wasn't sick at all with my son, and definitely put on enough weight. Don't know what I am having yet (will know April 12th), but have been sicker and lost TONS of weight. We shall see!

My neighbor put on crazy amounts of weight with her boys, but was never sick and always felt fine. With her daughter, she gave birth being 3 pounds lighter than when she got pregnant and was sick for quite a bit of it. I think it is all old wives tales!

I had 2 boys and then a girl. I think I pretty much carried my weight the same with all (about 40 lbs and in the hips!). I was more sick with my girl though by a long shot. During my 3rd pregnancy, I did get a fortune cookie that had the fortune on one side of the paper and a translation of a Chinese word on the other side. That word happened to be 'Girl'. At that time I did not know yet what I was having. I carried it in my wallet because I thought it might be a sign of what I was having. Sure enough, that's what I had! I think it is so fun to talk about all these things and guess if any of them means boy or girl. That was one of my favorite things about being pregnant.

When I was prego with my daughter I never got sick, not once, and I was all baby (all belly), not chunky. I dreamed of a little boy and such. But there all fun little games that you probably shouldn't take too seriously. I think it's all individual to your genes on if you get chunky or not, sick or not, etc.

I don't think any of that means anything. I had morning sickness with my first and third child but not my second one. I gained about 40 lbs with each one and carried all of them extremely low out in front, which is supposed to mean a boy, but I had three girls. I never had heartburn, but my oldest daughter had quite a bit of hair. Those are just old wives tales.

The more you eat, and the less you excercise... the more weight you'll gain- regardless of whether is is a boy or girl. (oh, and genetics fits in there as well)

There are plenty of superstitions out there and I don't think any of them have been definitively proven at all.

Now I am on my second pregnancy, and my first was a girl- this one I don't know. I was much chunkier with that pregnancy, from start till finish, so obviously I was bigger all over then than I am now... With that one I had morning sickness...with this one I had TERRIBLE morning sickness. That one I carried "high"- this one I am carrying very low.

Both I have had acne breakouts if I forget to use a facial cleanser, and both have given me luscious hair (for me).

But this pregnancy is 10 times as tiring... could is be chasing a 2 year old? Maybe. At the beginning I felt like I was having a boy, but now I often feel like we may have a girl. But then I switch back to thinking it is a boy because for me this preganancy feels WAY different than the first.

The only way to know for sure (absolutely sure) is to get an amniocentesis OR wait till the baby comes! I would say that second most accurate is the ultrasound (if baby cooperates), and third is the mother's intuition. Nevertheless it is fun to see what the superstitions have to say about it!

Good Luck and Congrats!!!

I heard it's the other way around: When a woman gains weight all over it's a girl, when it's just the belly it's a boy. If she gets sick alot it's a girl,(due to the double doses of woman hormones) if she doesn't it's a boy. If she breaks out and her hair gets dull, it's a girl, because ''her beauty is getting taken away from her and given to the baby girl''(Lol) If she glows and has nice skin and nice hair it's a boy.

Honestly when I first found out I was expecting I had many dreams my baby was a boy, and guess what he was! Also, I didn't even start showing until 7 months. I just gained 15 pounds. I didn't really have an apetite and didn't give in to my cravings very often. My skin was immaculate, I would ALWAYS have pimples before being pregnant. My hair grew in thicker and shinier and faster.

I would say follow your intuition. I believe in the power of dreams and have had many dreams that have came true. Good luck and congrats on your pregnancy! :)

I wasn't just chunky... I was FAT with my son. But I was fatter with our daughter. I didn't have morning sickness with my son, I had 24 hr round the clock until the day he was born nausea. Same with my daughter, only worse... so bad I went on Zofran to be able to function to take care of my son.
I don't think any of that stuff means anything...
It's just fun to speculate, and people will speculate on anything that seems like it could match up with what they have experienced.
