So after my 2nd pregnancy, I need to lose about 25-30 lbs. I think if I went with a program like Jenny Craig or WW, I would be more successful. I don't know which to choose. What's your experience, and why do you like or dislike the program you chose? And approximately how much do you spend each month? Money is very tight, and I need to know about what to expect to spend, and also know that it really is worth it. I would ideally like to lose the weight by this summer.

Also, I forgot to mention that I'm breastfeeding right now. My youngest is 2 months old, and I plan on BF until he's 1.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Looks like WW wins!! I think I had heard that they have a program for brestfeeding moms, but I had forgotten about that. Thanks for all the input!

Jenny Craig is expensive. I'd recommend doing weight watchers. There is no food to purchase so it is possible to do it much more cheaply than jenny craig. I've done it online and like that program because getting to a meeting can be tough with a tiny one that is still nursing! Good luck!

Weight Watchers has a program for breastfeeding mothers. You need to be careful about "dieting" while breastfeeding -cutting calories too much will cause a drop in milk production.

Weight Watchers teaches lifestyle changes and how to eat anywhere and still lose weight - whereas I feel Jenny Craig focuses more on their food... which you can't eat forever.

Please clear any diet plan with your doctor before starting. Get active as much as possible with a 2 month old and eat sensibly. Some nursing moms don't lose all the weight until they wean, while others lose more while nursing - it varies!

Good luck!

B. - Jenny Craig is a good program - especially if you're short on time, you can heat their food, add a salad and fresh veggie and you're all set. The program does cost more than WW because you buy their food, but I do think if you track what you typically spend on groceries the cost is about the same. However, Jenny Craig will not let you do their program while you are breast-feeding. Weight Watchers is a good program, too. Both Jenny & WW have weekly weigh-ins and motivations support. I've used both and have been very happy with each program and still incorporate principles from each. You should also look at the South Beach diet. Just like WW, with the SBD you can have your family eating the same food you are - so you're not a short-order cook. Good luck!

I love weight watchers. I lost 40 lbs 2 years ago, and it was wonderful, you just have to be disiplined if you eat out a lot. And, I personally don't get anything out of the meetings (I hate the rah, rah cheerleading that goes with it). But, I know a lot of people thrive on that. The plan itself, to me, was easy because we do eat out a lot. Truthfully, I call it my taco bell diet. Now they have a commercial for it!!!! But that really worked for me. Anyway. I just had my second so back to taco bell for lunch! Why do we not listen to other women when they say the second is always harder to lose weight?! Good luck to you!

Jenny Craig is very expensive, my mother was paying 200 dollars a week! I did WW last year and it worked great I think right now you can do it online for free but I like going to the meetings bc you feel more motivated. Good luck!

My friend did weight watchers and lost 60 lbs 4 years ago and kept it off. It really is a lifestyle change. She also loved going to meetings to get encouragement from others.

I just joined WW. My BFF lost 60 lbs on it and has kept it off. It is easy to keep up with esp. if you have an iphone. i just downloaded the app and keep everyhting right there. You can also track online or pen and paper. I am paying $50 for 3 months and then I am going to cancel. You have to make sure you cancel or they will keep renewing your membership. If you actually go to the meetings and get weighed in and meet your goal I think you become a lifetime member for free.
