get gift certificates for you and he at massage heights or massage envy (they are cheap, like $39). Get a sitter and go get the massage together. It is nice :)

I just had my 5 year anniversary & my husband got mavs tickets. I went to ticketsnow.com & I got them for $24 each. Granted they're the nosebleed seats, but he doesn't care. And my husband got me a beautiful watch with a wooden wristband. The 5 year is the year of wood so maybe something along those lines!!!!!

I give my husband sex coupons. Wood. Hahahaha.

He gives me a day off.

They cost nothing, and yet worth so much.

My 5 year anniversary was this year also.... if you follow the traditional lists...wood is the 5 year gift.
I got my husband a wooden picture frame that had both our names engraved in it from personalizationmall.com it only cost about $20. I put a picture of the two of us in it...he loved it. It was thoughtful and creative but still cheap!
He went to Michael's and bought an unfinished wooden tray. He painted it and glazed onto it pictures of our family. Again, thoughtful, creative and cheap!
Good luck!!

We just celebrated our 5 yr anniversary also and I made him a memory book with pictures of the past 5 yrs together.
And there is always the obvious.....intimacy. Buy a pretty robe and where nothing under it. Leave the robe open and he'll love it! Trust me!
Good luck and Happy anniversary!

One Christmas I did something my husband enjoyed. I bought the book "My Personal Penguin" by Sandra Boynton (all about a penguin wanting to be a personal penguin) and at the back I attached coupons I made myself. The coupons ranged in things from "Will take out the trash" or "Will give up the remote with no argument" to um, shall we call them specific "favors" that were redeemable throughout the year with no argument. Wink wink.... I think he enjoyed the "no argument" part best because with two kids and a full-time job, there are times when I just don't want to make the effort.

Anyway, he was still talking about what a great gift that was. It's inexpensive, creative, and actually can bring you closer in many ways.

Maybe you could send the kids to the sitter's, wrap yourself up in something pretty and put yourself under the tree? Surely he'll never foreget that!

The downside is that if he's like my sweet hubby, you might never hear the end of the joke that you gave yourself to him and now he can have you whenever he wants. :-) Hehehe.
