My daughter is a 3rd grader and has to make a landmark from Italy for an International Festival at school. She does not want to make the Leaning Tower of Pisa because someone else at school is doing it. She's been thinking about making the Colisseum (sp?) but I have no clue where to begin! Any suggestions? Thanks!
Thanks!! We ended up at Michael's for the foam blocks. My daughter is on the ball with the project right now! The straws were my next go to item if we couldn't find the blocks. We too have bee all over Italy and went with what our 9 year old chose. Now to find a costume . . . . Thank you all again for the ideas.
I've been to Italy and there are TONS of them......Rome, Cistine Chapel, Florence (home of Michelangelo), Assi - A WONDERFUL place in northern Italy, Pompeii - another PHENOMINAL place.
Look on the internet......you'll have a harder time choosing! There are all kinds of books on the various cities and/or landmarks. I know....I have many of them.
Go to Micheals or Hobby Loby and get those Project Bricks. THey actually have a picture of the Colosseum on the back, I am looking at our box right now. THey are prepainted styrofoam blocks, were maybe $10 or $15 or so. I bought ours for the pyramids we are building for Ancient Egypt.

They were also known for their aquaducts. Might be easier since you can cut a straw in half lengthtwise and make a water pipe through a bucolic farmland :)
