Grilling season has started and we have a new grill :-) Now, we are looking for some new ideas. What are your favorite grilling recipes? I would especially love recipes for side dishes done on the grill.

Thanks!

My favorite is corn on the cob.

Also love salmon steaks and shrimp on the grill.

Kabobs are totally awesome grilled.

Keeping things simple is best and allowing that smokey flavor of the grill soak into your food is what makes grilling simply divine.

Enjoy your new grill.

We grill all year.
Our favorite is to bake ribs in the oven, then finish them on the grill with BBQ sauce.
Burgers & casing dogs, of course, well done! (i.e. BURNT!)
Steaks.
C-On-C in the soaking wet husks.
Boneless chicken, marinated in teriyaki or topped with BBQ sauce.
COLD sides, salads, green, macaroni, potato, three bean, etc.

This year I'm going to remember to but little trays, etc. for the veggies for the grill.

We put onions & butter & salt in pepper in a large foil packet when we do steaks or hamburgers....

It's always grilling season here in Florida, lol.

We just do the usual stuff on the grill, my hubby loves his steaks with a little seasoning. I like corn on the cob grilled. Soak it in water for like 5 minutes and then put on the grill, do both with the husks still on. I also like grilled veggies like zucchini, squash, peppers (red, yellow, orange and green).

Check your local book store I am sure they have tons of grilling cook books.

Marinated steak (any cut really will be good)

Grilled veggies: zuccini, red onion, yellow squash

Corn on the cob left in the husk

Grilled veggie kabobs: mushrooms, red onion, red, green & yellow bell
peppers

Edit: put a whole red onion on the grill. Yummy. They become sweet.

I don't like pork and beans directly from the can.

Back in the day, when I was cooking for a scout jamboree, I was asked to make ribs. The ribs turned out so tender the meat fell off the bones. A friend was asked to cook pork and beans. He put gallon-sized open cans of pork and beans on my grill, added a little maple syrup, diced onions, garlic granuals, black pepper and let them smoke along with my ribs. When I took the ribs out, he took the rib meat that fell off the bones, diced it up, and the juices from the ribs and added that to the beans.

Normally when we make pork and beans for the scouts we usually have two-thirds left over. This time all the pork and beans were used and eaten. Scouts and the adult leaders came back for seconds and thirds of the pork and beans.

The pork and beans had a slightly smokey flavor. The beans actually had some pork (rib meat) in it and the spices made it just fantastic. As for me, the guy that doesn't like pork and beans, I had thirds.

I wish I could tell you how much he added of each spice/ingredient, but I just watched as he added stuff. I never thought I would like the beans so I didn't pay attention.

BTW, I used to use pans from in the house to cook my BBQ meat in. Clean up was hard and awful. Now I buy the unsold aluminum turkey pans from the grocery store after Thanksgiving and after Christmas. I paid 26 cents a pan for 39 of them at one store. Now I just throw them away or use then for plants for my garden. They may last me a couple of years, then I buy more. If you use charcoal, Memorial Day and 4th of July are the best time to buy briquets. I usually buy 120 to 140 lbs which will last me about a year.

I usually use chunks of mesquite for my smoke flavor. Although the best smoke I ever had, I had the holes cut from the wooden whiskey barrels and used them. WOW!

Good luck to you and yours.

We love grilling salmon, marinate with olive oil, salt and pepper (or any spices you like) we also like to add slices of orange or lemon, wrap in foil and place in grill for 20 mins, it cooks fast!

Try shrimp or chiken cabobs. Cut them and any veggies (onions, different color bellpepers, pineapple, olives, etc. into small bite size pieces, scew them into scewers. Slather on some olive oil, salt and peper, then grill! enjoy. Goes well with a cold sangria: place your favorite berries into a pitcher and mush them, then add your fav lemon soda, and red wine, enjoy!

I'm with the others, I love a good kabob! You can get a grill basket that you can use for veggies or just use foil. Grilled fruit is an easy and good side dish or dessert. I have done grilled peaches with a little honey, pine nuts, and blue cheese and they are awesome! If you don't like blue cheese, substitute feta or goat cheese. Grilled pineapple is also easy and delish. You can leave it plain or top it with some honey and or ice cream. Any stone fruit will do well on the grill and you can get creative.

I made some grilled lamb chops the other night and honestly I haven't stopped thinking about them! Costco has the best chops at a reasonable price. I season them with salt, pepper, and oregano and just grill them up to perfection! So good!!!

We cook as much as we can on the grill. It's too hot to get stuck in the kitchen. We use our gas grill for most of these recipes.

Preheat the grill to about 500 degrees. Use a pizza stone and you can have pizza in 10 to 15 minutes. You can make it to order. WE make a small pepperoni for the kids, veggie for the hubby and spinach and chicken for me. It makes the crust crunchy and light. Yum- o

We use credar planks and grill fish. Add some dill and a little lemon juice and it's excellent.

Sheesha Kabobs are a great way to cook veggies and meat. Some people put a variety of things on each skewers. We seperate it out...all the chicken on one skewer, beef on another, onions and peppers on another. Then the sqash and mushrooms, etc. It just makes it easier, since those items cook at different paces.

Often we cook veggies by either wrapping them in foil or in our iron skillet.

Some fruit is great on the grill too. Peaches are yummy, but pineapple with a little brown sugar is a favorite dessert. We serve it with a dollop of ice cream.

We had chicken and beef fajitas last night.

Sometimes we also use our grill to cook up hobo dinners. Take a sheet of tinfoil and put a large meat patty in the middle (We like ground beef or ground turkey), Wrap the meat in a bit of bacon. Put potatoes and baby carrots around it. My hubby likes it with tons of onion on top of all of it. The kids and I prefer no onion. Season to taste...we like garlic and season salt. Wrap it tightly. Throw it on a med grill and cook until the meat is cook through. Cooking time varies depending on the size of the patty.

We also have a cast iron griddle that we use for cooking big breakfasts on. When we have company it's nice to be able to cook 8 - 10 pancakes at a time. Just beware with bacon...drain that bacon fat!

We grill all year long.

We sometimes make veggie fajitas.

In foil place a little olive oil,
3 whole cloves of garlic,
1 large white onion sliced,
1 large carrot sliced julienne,
1 zucchini sliced julienne,
1 yellow squash sliced Julienne
1 container fresh mushrooms sliced
1 poblano pepper or 2 jalapeno peppers sliced and seeded (take the seeds and membranes out)
Salt and pepper

Roll up inside the foil.. Place on a med grill, every 10 minutes, roll it to another side.

Serve on your favorite tortillas just like fajitas.. or serve as a veggie side dish..

We make a phenomenal grilled potato salad pretty regularly at my house.

Take 2-3lbs of potatoes, any kind you like except for russet, scrub, cut in half or quarters if they're huge & boil until only partially done. Drain, dump onto a cookie sheet & drizzle with olive oil, salt & pepper & toss them around. You can do this part in the morning & just let them sit all day.

Cook & crumble 1/2 pound bacon, drain & set aside. Cut 1/2 a sweet onion into a small dice, set aside. Make the dressing: mix 1 cup mayo, 1/2 cup veg. oil, 3/4 cup cider vinegar & about a tsp or so black pepper, whisk together & stick in the fridge if you do the sauce early in the day.

Just before eating, grill the potatoes about 5-10 minutes until cooked the rest of the way through. Put potatoes in a large bowl, add bacon, onion & sauce, toss to coat & serve warm.
