I recently started working for CPG (Continental Promotion Group).It doesn't cost you anything and they offer a 3-4 hour training class then send you home with work. I don't make much, but it's more than nothing at all. Basically, I data enter rebates. I pick up the "mail" from their offices near Kyrene and Warner, bring it home and work after the kids are sleeping and on the weekends when my husband is home. I work at GE Money bank and they have a work at home program that requires 4 hours of your time a day. The pay is decent and the hours are usually pretty flexible for the stay at home crew. I am not sure if they are hiring right now but would be beneficial for you to put in a job application. If you are interested let me know and I will get you the web sight.

I stay at home. I am not sure what you were looking at before requiring you to spend $100-$400 up front, but my company doesn't require that.

Hi A.. I'm sure you have received a lot of responses from some wonderful women with home based businesses in this forum. We have a very successful one as well, and have learned a few things along the way I'd be happy to share with you. When evaluating home opportunities, look for a product that is moving with current trends in the marketplace, a well funded company to back your efforts, a system that is exceedingly simple to follow, a support group to mentor you to success, and a generous compensation plan. If you can find it, a company that has a great product that no one really knows about yet will give you the greatest leverage of your time. You will also need to make a decision whether you are going to be happy making "grocery money" or, are you looking for an income producing asset that can be passed on to your children. Have you checked some of the job web sites like http://hotjobs.yahoo.com/ for stay at home opportunities? Places like http://www.vegas.com hire stay at home moms for customer service jobs. It doesn't look like they are hiring for that position now, but you can submit an online application for consideration.

Some of the home based businesses such as Longaberger, have been running specials to encourage new consultants to join them. I believe that their start up special was $29 last month. Another thing that you may want to keep an eye on.

I have a stay at home job myself, but unfortunately they do not normally hire people outside of Wisconsin. I was lucky enough to be able to take my job with me when we moved here.

It is very hard to live off of one income these days!! This is what we do, I do not know if it would work for your family...my husband is a teacher and also works at a grocery store, and I babysit part time from home. We don't make a ton of money but we live comfortably. Would your husband take on another part time job?

I've worked from home for the last 16 yrs.... I found something I am passionate about (music) and built a business around it. It's not always been easy, but I consider it a blessing that I've been able to stay home with my 3 boys and earn some income at the same time.
What do you like to do? Any job can bring in some $, but you won't really be happy unless you are excited about it. It will provide a nice "escape" when you need it, and build your bank account (or pay the bills!) at the same time.
It may help if you start by writing down things you love/hate to do, and start from there, then ask people who have done it if it's worked out for them. I hope you won't grab the first thing that comes along... think about it and really research it first so you won't be hopping from job to job, small business to small business. I have friends who have done that and have been very unhappy.

I stay at home all day with my 2 girls, ages 4 and 17 mo.
When my husband gets home at 5:30, I go to work at a grocery store. My hours are 6-10pm a couple nights a week and a day shift on Saturday. The extra income is nice and the girls get some special time with daddy.

hi, A.. i began a home based business a little over a year ago when i was pregnant with my third child. we have been making between $200-$500/month in residual income (the potential is there to earn significantly more if you want to put in the time). i am a nurse by 'trade' and NOT a salesperson. i could never do something where my income depends on my selling ability. i agree with the other posts here that talk about researching what company you choose to work for. i did that, and made the decision i thought was best for our lifestyle. i work a few hours/week talking on the phone or in person with prospective customers. i did not have a start-up fee. i don't carry any inventory or sell any products. my job involves setting up customer accounts for a catalog company that has a wide variety of household/personal care products (might i add that i LOVE their stuff and wouldn't trade it for anything?) i really like that i can do all of it from my home. feel free to contact me if you are interested in more info. good luck with whatever you choose to do, and beware of the companies that tell you anything about "ground floor opportunities" and make sure you fully understand the nuances of the compensation plan BEFORE you sign up! blessings! I'd be interested in knowing what you find out! I am a proud mother of a 7 month old little girl, and my husband and I are happily expecting our second. I currently work full time and am the primary income in our home at the moment. My husband gladly works full time but struggles with a disability. Working full time is breaking my heart but we have been unable to come up with an option that would both cover our needs and allow for full time care of two babies. Our current day care provider is wonderful but I would like to be at home with my own children!

My mother suggested online teaching (online high schools and colleges) and a friend suggested medical transcription. One involves academic qualifications and the other involves some advance training (I don't know if it costs up front), but if you are interested in the computer options they would both be things to consider.

I've been working from home for over 2 years now and it works for me. it's hard sometimes with Sofia getting to be more active now and getting into everything in my home office, so I try to work while she naps or after she goes to sleep. you have to be committed to making it work. as for investing in a company, I strongly suggest picking one that you are passionate about. if you are excited about the product, it will show and you will do well. if you are just doing it for the money, that will show too. I know money is tight, but many of the work-from-home opportunities require an initial investment. instead of thinking "what if I don't make it back?" think "I will more than make it back!" direct sales is all about your attitude :0) best of luck to you!
