Is There a Wahm's Group Anywhere? If Not, Anyone Interested in Joining One?

I work from home PT about 30 hrs. a week, and have two precious boys, ages 2-1/2 & 4. As of now, my boys go to preschool only 2 days a week. Needless to say, working from home is very difficult with small children around as they need constant attention. And, I feel terribly guilty about not giving them that one-on-one attention they deserve. For the summer, I do have a sitter coming to help me out while I'm working. Any how, I would love to be part of a WAHM's group, online preferrably, where we can discuss our trials of working from home, maybe share ideas of ways to keep them busy while we work, lend each other support, and anything else that comes up. Anyone interested?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks Mommies for all your responses, and for the website links provided. So, how about we start our humble little group? We can call ourselves the WAHMs. I'm not sure if we can keep this string open, or if we need to start a new one, so maybe you all know because I'm new here. Also, someone asked me what I do that I can work from home: I work for a retail company and answer product questions that customer email into our websites. I've worked for the company for about 11 years and was able to snatch this WFH job up when I heard about it coming available 7 years ago. Oh, and here's a couple of things that I do to occupy my kids while I'm working: I've recently found out that our local library has all these wonderful DVDs available to check out, many being educational 'teachers' materials. Each week I check out about 3 or 4 DVDs and my kids watch them while I work. My oldest LOVES Bill Nye The Science Guy DVDs they have, which you cannot buy unless you are a teaching institution. Also, we have some indoor play places out here in my area that have wireless internet. My kids can go play on all the climby structures and bounce houses while I fire up my laptop and work. Anybody else have any good ideas to keep our little darlings occupied while working??

L.,

I have a Yahoo Group that I help another lady manage. It's called Women's Home Businesses in DFW. We do pretty much what you are talking about. If you are interested go ahead and apply for membership. Tell us a little about what you do (when you apply).

Here is the link:

Hope this is what you are looking for,

I would be interested in joining a WAHM's group, too. I have two children, age 3 and 4, and I share your guilt about not being able to give my children the attention they need. I also have a babysitter coming for the summer.

It would be nice to network with other moms who work from home. Please let me know if you would like to start a group, or if you find one that is already established.

Thanks!

FYI - I am in The Colony.

Hi L.. I'm part of a WAHM's group called The North Texas Network of Enterprising Women (formerly See Mommy Work). Check out our web site and see what you think - www.seemommywork.org This is our old site, we are currently working on our new one.

We have a great group of ladies and we meet once a month-first Thursday of every month. All of us face the same challenges you face. It's very hectic working and being a full-time Mom.

There's a link on the site to email us if you'd like to attend a meeting and check it out.

Thanks

I work full time from home for a global services company (i.e. technology services, outsourcing, etc). However, DD goes to pre-school/day care every day. She is 18 months. There is no way I could be productive if I had her at home. I am often on conference calls and there's no way for her to understand that she has to be quiet during these times. I know this from experience from the times that she is sick and I keep her home.

And lastly, she is a very social kid, so I think she would be lonely/bored staying at home with me all day.

I'm interested in joining especially via online. I also work from home, I have a Promotional Products Business. Many of my clients and manufacturers work with me via email, and I work a lot over the phone. I'm trying to build clientelle in the TX area since many are out of state but once my daughter turned 8 months old I had to take her to "school" makes me feel better to refer to it as school vs daycare. We are expecting our 2nd daughter June 22nd and I'll try to do the same thing, but it is EXTREMELY challenging. I give you so much credit for making it work. I felt guilty and wasn't able to give my daughter or my business 100%, so I'm doing better there but I still feel guilty about not being able to do it like I thought. I've been told my daughter is very active for a girl.

This time around I'd like some back up options if I have to meet a client and attend conference while working with my newborn at home, how did you go about finding a sitter? We haven't had many babysitters and our families are all out of state, but I'd like to find someone I feel comfortable with to come over if need be.

I'd be happy to share some of the things I do to keep her occupied, she turned 2 in March so her attention span isn't very long, which I'm sure you find with your 2 1/2 and there is probably a big difference between your 4 year old.

I'm glad to hear there are other mom's out there that can relate to this situation. Is it possible for you to find a 3 day preschool, I believe that would help tremendously for you to accomplish more work wise and then spend better quality time with them, when they are home. Hang in there! You seem to be doing great!
