I am looking into making a career change and need any advice. What are the pros and cons of this field?

I work in an anesthesia billing office and love it!! After years of working in a doctors office, I was burned out! At least now I don't have to deal with patients and most of the time doctors!!! I work in the follow up dept we call on denied claims, and work and A/R, do bad debt reports and refunds. I have been doing this for 6 years and plan on being there for many more to come!
It's a great field, however many offices are offshoring their medical billing. In the area I live in, you can easily get a medical billing certification, but the offices aren't hiring because they have sent their billing to India.Great job, wrong time to get into it.
Although I work in a different dept, many of my colleagues are claims processors. They review claims and process for payment (another part of the medical billing profession). The all get paid very well.
It's not a good job for a people person as you will spend a majority of your time working in a cubby. You also have to be very detail oriented. If this sounds like you, look into it.
The way the economy is I would keep what I have right now...making a change is a bad idea with the way the economy is...
I love it! It's very detailed and can get boring if you're a people person. That's why one day a week I work in the front office as well.
I have heard that many companies online are offering to provide you with medical billing work to do from home, on your own time, and then they pay you. Is this what you're referring to? I am not sure if any of these online companies are legit, but if you or anyone on here uses/knows of one that is in fact legit and does in fact pay you, please let me know as I'd like to earn extra money on the side in the evenings or on the weekends!
