I am a mother to a wonderful 19 month old son named Jaxon. I am 21 & a mom & I still sleep with my baby blanket! I have slept with it my entire life! Its not like I have to carry it with me every where i go or hold it 24/7! I just sleep with it & cuddle it at night! I am able to sleep with out it cuz if my son isnt able to sleep I'll occasionally let him sleep with it! But is it strange for a mother to still sleep with her baby blanket?!?! Does it show a bad example to my son?!?! I am not ashamed of ppl knowing that i still sleep with it either! I will openly admit that i still sleep with my baby blanket! I have an older sister who is 26 & married & she still sleeps with her baby blanket also but she doesnt have any children yet!

What can I do next?

I still sleep with mine every night.

I dont think it shows a bad example. I think it shows them you are capable of sticking to one thing.

My husband has threatened to throw it away while I am not looking...But he knows What would happen, if he seriously tossed it!

No, not strange. I'm 35, married, with 2 kids and sleep with a stuffed animal and have my whole life. I have trouble sleeping if I don't have my arm wrapped around something, it's uncomfortable! Sometimes having my bear is more for comfort but usually it's for comfort.

My baby blanket disintegrated to rags by the time I was in high school so I put the scraps in a drawer and adopted a new soft fluffy favorite blanket that I throw over my side of the bed and cuddle with. It's made from that microfiber plush material and is so very soft.

My husband still has his baby blanket. He calls it "scrubby" and it has soft edges that he will rub between his fingers. He debates tossing it all the time but I told him it doesn't bother me that he has it so to stop worrying about it. He said soon it won't be an issue though because the soft edging that he likes has been slowly eroding away and there's only one small corner of "silk" left to scrub. When it's gone, the blanket will have lost it's magic and I'll fold it up and put it next to my old lovey.

What's wrong with doing that? My hubby has a large body pillow he sleeps with, obviously not from when he was a kid but still, it helps him sleep. Not I don't think it sets a bad example for your child unless you are carrying it around with you to the store, dragging in on the ground at the park, yelling at your husband when he tries to wash it.......

I don't think there is anything wrong with it. I hope you continue sleeping with it. It's your life. You aren't hurting anyone by doing this so who cares???
I mean, people do MUCH weirder stuff! MUCH weirder. I really think this is NO big deal at all. :)
I slept with my favorite stuffed animal until I went away to college....the ONLY reason I didn't take it with me was I was afraid something would happen to it, I preferred to have it safe at my parents' house.
I am now 30 years old but i swear, just the other night I was 3/4 asleep and I suddenly started thinking about it and reaching out for it.
Keep the blanket!!!! :)

I have Quilt and Huggy, my teddy. Quilt is folded under my pillow and Huggy is sitting on my side on the floor. My teddy's just the right size to wrap my arm around, like a body pillow. I can grab Huggy when my husband's not in bed with me and I can pet Quilt easily if I need the soothing. My husband even has a favorite pillow case. It's a texture thing, we like the way the pillow case and blanket feel. I've had Huggy since birth, Quilt has been various items through my life. First I had a Holly Hobby blanket, at some point my mom decided I was too old for it and put it away, so I adopted a bed sheet that felt the same, then a quilt that a cousin had left at our home at one time and never reclaimed.

My Daughter has Panket (a mash of Pink and Blanket), it's harmless, if she was sucking her thumb then I might object and try to wean her from that, but Panket, no big.

Also I was a thumb sucker, I have an overbite because if it. I've been told I still do it from time to time in my sleep!!

Assuming you are not the Troll as mentioned and this is a serious question..
I sleep with a stuffed bear, so what, have since I was young. It helps keep my airway open so I breath better at night and I'm just used to it. The rare times I don't I can't sleep well at all. My son tried giving his blanket up voluntarily. We had nothing to do with his choice. He was going through a rough patch and not sleeping well at all. I actually suggested he get his blankie and it helped. His blankie now hangs out in the corner of his bed. We never made a big deal of it. He can sleep without it. We slowly weaned the kids from having to bring it everywhere until it just stays on the bed. There is nothing wrong with it IMO. It's not hurting anyone and it helps you sleep so no issues.

I have never heard of an adult doing that, I guess it is fine, not hurting anyone. Not sure if it would hurt your son either. Maybe you hand it down to him. = )

Well, I don't sleep with my baby blanket, but I do like to have my favorite blanet which is a fleece throw that actually belongs to my older DD.

I don't personally do it, but I don't think it's weird either. My daughter is 10 & she still sleeps with hers pretty much every night. She doesn't freak out if she doesn't have it, but she definitely prefers it that way.

My blankie was also disinigrated (or however you spell it!) by the time I left home to go to college, but I had a feather pillow that I'd always slept with also. I still have to sleep with it. I swear...if the house ever caught on fire, that would be the FIRST thing I grabbed. Ok....maybe the children first. But pillow WILL be going out with us! I had it with me both times I was in labor and I'd have nurses ask about it...lol! But, I NEVER sleep without it even when we travel! Sometimes if we go out of town just for the day I'll even take it in the car with me. I'm so glad you wrote this post because now I don't feel so much like an odd duck needing my pillow! :)

I'm 38 and still sleep with my teddy bear. Every single night. Even when I travel (and yes, he did come on my honeymoon - we're a package deal!). I've always had him and he definitely is not a looker anymore and although my husband would love to get rid of him, he understands and my friends just think the fact I do is something about me to love. I can't sleep unless he's in the crook of my arms.

I think it is very odd but no judgement here. I think it will bite you in the end if your child chooses something to soothe him and then you try to wing him off of that if its a binky, thumb sucking, or anything then he will say well momma you still have your blankey. That is just my opinion but to each its own.

My great grandmother made a quilt for me to come home from the hospital when I was born. I slept with that quilt until I was in high school. It was in such bad shape, my mom finally took it away so she could at least preserve what was left of it. To this day, I have an Amish Quilt on my bed that I snuggle up with EVERY night and I am 37 years old. It's a comfort thing. I have three children and not a one have that strange need. Apparantly it didn't rub off on them. :)
