Is It Just Me? - Holland,MI

Ok, I feel a little ridiculous with this question, but it's really bothering me so I hope someone out there can give me some insight as to what's going on with my body. (So you know, I do have an appointment with my OBGYN on Wednesday) I have been having a lot of weird, small symptoms lately and I'm not sure what to make of them. I will list them for you (in no particular order): frequent urination, foul smelling urine, tired, nausea and a little shaky before lunch (feeling as though I NEED to eat), gassy, looser stool, and what seems to be a somewhat larger abdomen. I am quite confident that it's not pregnancy due to the fact that I just finished my period which was on time and completely regular. Any ideas what I'm dealing with here? I truly appreciate any response! :)

What can I do next?

Hello K., After my last child was born I had an infection in the pelvic cavity that smoldered for a long time. I was weak, shacky, had a low back ache, on top of the symtoms you discribe. I never ran a temp. In fact when I was finally hospitalized, my admitting temp was 91.6 and I was going into shock. The ER doc said that my system stopped fighting the infection and that I was sicker than if I had a temp of 106. Good luck and keep that appointment on Wed.

I was having some of the same symptoms and found that it was due to a lack of "good bacteria" in my system. Antibiotics deplete our bodies of the good bacteria we need to properly digest food, fight off infection, etc. I started taking acidophillus each day and my symptoms disappeared. I haven't had a yeast infection, bladder infection, stomach problems, constipation, skin rashes, fatigue, etc. since I started taking it. You can find the capsules at any drug store (in the vitamin aisle), health food store, meijer, walmart, etc. I highly recommend this. Try it and see how it works. I wish you luck!

I'd be interested in knowing the results of the doc visit.

Otherwise it sounds like a pregnancy, even tho it's unexpected.

Or maybe it's just your body readjusting.

Hi K.,
The only thing that comes to mind would be either a UTI (urinary tract infection) or those are also symptoms of diabetes. Did you happen to have gestational while pregnant?
Has this been going on awhile? I would make an appointment to see the doc if this is an on going thing.

Hi K., I agree with what Jeanne posted above. Having your bloodsugar checked very soon is a reaaalllly good idea.
You don't have to wait for next week though. You should be able to call your doc and let them know you're coming in to check your blood sugar (not needing to see the doc). That way at least you would know! If it was really high, they'd have you stick around to see the doc.

it wont be this simple but try to start drinking more water. it will help alot. i am 39 and i have had all kinds of things go wrong with my stomach and with my pee smelling etc and the drs could not figure it out. i started drinking water (which honestly i hate) and alot of the symptoms went away.
i still think you should go to the dr and rule out anything serious tho. :)

Some time if you do not drink enough water, or do you drink a lot of pop?? The new stronger detergent & Bleach you have to be very careful and make sure you truly rinse out of your clothes. Are you stressed out. And sometime as your body is getting older. I had to change my tissue, I can only use Scott with no fragrance & Dove soap also no scent panties liner, and absolutely no bubble bath. Or you might have an infection due to some of the issue I mention. Hope this help, did you try over the counter medicines( monastic 7).....

I went in with similar symptoms, it's amazing how most symptoms in women's abdomens are immediately connected with pregnancy. I had a cyst on an ovary. It burst and passed with my next period, apparently they're common but it was news to me. I had pregnancy like symptoms for a month (including food sensativity) and when I got my period it went away.

When my gall bladder started to go on the fritz, those were some of the symptoms I had...it's a possibility. Hope it isn't, because that would prob. mean surgery...did for me, but it was worth it. I feel much better post op. Good luck, I hope you can figure it out, because I know how hard it is to function when you don't feel good.

My mother had a kidney stone & didn't know it until she was feeling like she had the flu. No pain, just loose stools & nauseated. The stone was stuck blocking the urethra (which is the "tube" from kidneys to bladder). She started shaking badly & was taken to the hospital, when they removed her stone it sent her body into septic shock. Because of all the toxins that had been building up. Thank goodness she recovered, I won't go into all those details, but if you get a fever or throw up or have uncontrollable shaking, you need to be seen right away. Hopefully it's not as major, it just made me think of my mom's ordeal.

It sounds like you have alot going on, and your doctor will be able to do some tests, or refer you to someone to do tests he can't do to try to nail it down.

It might be several problems at once. The frequent urination, foul smell, tiredness may all be a bladder infection, or increasing to kidney infection. Any lower back pain, usually on one side? Your OB/Gyn will probably do a urine dip which could tell them some, or they may want to send it out.

The larger abdomen could be due to getting bloated. The bloating, loose stool, nausea could all be related. Gallbladder, endometriosis, change in diet, stress, thyroid ... list could go on. They may want to do labs, x-ray or ultra sound to narrow it down.

The shakiness sounds like low blood sugar. Make sure you have some carbs and protein for breakfast.

Hope that helps some, but like I said, it's going to take testing to find out what's what. Good luck!

the frequent urination and the shakes is usually a sign of sugar either Hypoglycimia or Diabeties both have the same. Which I have hypo.
but with the foul smelling urine and the rest of the systems I would have the doctor look into an infection or stones in the urinary track.
the rest of it could go along with any infection but I went through a little of the same thing and had my gall bladder checked, thyroid and a few other tests they came up with an ulcer. things are better now but I still believe my thyroid is off and take a kelp supplement.
Make sure you ask all the questions you need to ask and please don't let the doctor tell you it is because you are getting older. be persistant if it is bothering you.

I am having the same problems and I just had my period as well. I also have been having an increase in heart burn. I was thinking maybe it is due to the fact that I have decreased my breastfeeding. Otherwise I am not sure.

take a trip to that doctor and tell them about all the symptoms... you have some concerning symptoms: you may have a urinary tract infection and some of your symptoms (frequent urination, nasty smell, shaky before meals, fatigue can be associated with diabetes. Your OB-gyn should be able to do the lab tests, and get you on the right medications or treatments.
Take care, L.

Hi K., my name is M.. Don't be embarrassed, we all go thru something sometime that concerns us. Ok as for your Request. Honestley it does sound like you may possibly be preg. again. I don't know your history or family history, but in my case, my mom had a her period every month for 4 months with each of us and there is 4 of us. LOL Ironic... But to be on the safe side I'd do a preg. test.

Ok now, another thing that it could possibly be is IBS (IRRATIBLE BOWEL SYNDROM). I had some of the same symptoms and that's what I was diagonosed with. So I would deffinatley talk with your doctor.

I hope that all goes in the direction that you hope for.. Good luck

Some of the symptoms you listed could indicate diabetes: such as frequent urination, foul smelling urine, shakiness, tired - even the nausea. It would not be difficult for your dr. to test you for diabetes - and is definatly one of those diseases that the early you know you have the better control and therefore reduced risk of complications down the road. I'm sure the symptoms are similar for many different illnesses - but that is the first one that popped into my head, since I have had type 1 diabetes for 15 years now. Talk to your doctor and best of luck with everything.
