My daughter also had baby acne around the same age. As tempting as it is - don't do anything to the spots! They'll eventually go away on their own without scaring. My daughter has perfect peachy baby skin now!

Hi A., a lot of new bornes have acne and it is normal. My daughter had it when she was a few weeks old, it cleared up after a couple of weeks. My pediatrician told me not to wash her face with any baby soap just wet washcloth.

My daughter had this pretty bad. Used Aquaphor and it helped, but it also will clear up on its own. Congrats on the lil one!

My daughter had horrible baby acne for over a month when she was about 4 weeks old. It was really bad but I have to say it cleared up all on its own and she didn't have any scarring> She's 17 months old now and hasn't had any more skin problems. It's hard to see your baby with acne and it looks painful (at least it did to me) but the best thing to do is just let it run it's course. Good luck!

Hi,

My daughter developed baby acne at around week 3. It last about 2 months. We took her to a dermatologist, but the doctor said to do nothing. Do not put any soaps or lotions on her face. Only wash it gently with a soft cloth and luke warm water. It will go away. I'm sure she's beautiful. Good luck!

It will be fine - but don't pick at it. If you just leave it alone, there won't be scarring at all.

Yep it's just baby acne, it will go away on its own. My son had it really bad from about 5 weeks-10 weeks old...and he has NO scars, so don't worry. :)

The acne is due to your (pregnancy) hormones leaving your baby's body. Don't do anything to it -- it will go away on its own, and her skin will be perfect and beautiful again.

At about the same age, my daughter had the same problem. It did get worse before it got better. I was horrified at first but, don't be. Next time you visit the doctor have them look at it & talk to them about it. My daughter is now 3 1/2 years old and there are NO effects from it. My doctor also assured me that baby acne is not an indicator of teenage or adult acne. Since I still wasn't convinced that Baby Acne came from nowhere, I began using unscented & sensitive baby products, I am not sure if it helped but it made me feel I was doing something to help her. :-)

Leave the bumps and spots alone A., they will go away soon. My daughter had the same thing and she's 3 months old now and they're gone. She even developed them on her chest, knees, legs and elbows, which gave me a scare, but now she just gets one every once in a while and it goes away fast. There are so many other things to worry about, but this isn't one of them. Good luck to you and enjoy your little girl.

Hi A.,
Make sure you wash your baby's face with a warm wash cloth after every feeding, when she wakes up from naps, before naps, and any time you remember in between. And make sure you dry her face well. Keep it as dry as possible, but very clean. And bath her daily in the summer.

The weather has been pretty warm in my area the last 2 weeks - summer finally!! Maybe its the heat that is causing this "acne", or just heat rash. Keep her cool, clean and dry.

I wouldn't be concerned with scars so much, because they are usually caused from picking; she's too young to pick.
Hope this helps.

My daughter had baby acne when she was very young. It lasted for a couple of weeks. There really isn't anything to do. It goes away by itself. The good news, is that it doesn't last very long. My daughter is almost 3. Once it went away, it never came back, and she has the most beautiful skin.

A., I'm surprised that the doctor just say it was acne and not look at her. That would worry me for having that kind of pediatrician. Is that a red flag?
Fortunately, I have not had that problem with my boys and I would bring her to the dr's and make sure he/she look at her and if you're into health products for that, you may want to google it and see what you find. I don't necessarily care for dr's prescriptions. I have there are healthy ways to do things and many drs do it with prescriptions. Please have her looked at.

Hi A.,
My daughter also had baby acne when she was few weeks old. But it goes away by itself. I used to wash her new clothes before wearing it in Dreft. You could also do an extra rinse cycle in washing machine. There were no scars left, so don't worry about it.
Good Luck and enjoy your precious one!

My daughter had what I thought and what everyone else was telling me was baby acne at 3 weeks also. At her 4 week well child the doctor said that it was indeed a rash and gave me a prescription for a cream which cleared it up completely in a couple of days. If it's real bad and turns mostly red maybe call your doctor again and bring her in.

My daughter is 1 year old now , but when she was born she had the same issue. She actually had some little red pimples. Some white heads too very little though. They did go away at about 4-5 months completely and after that she had beautiful "baby" soft skin. Not to worry.

My son had terrible baby acne--it usually goes away very quickly (less than a month)--I didn't do anything to it, just left it alone and didn't take a lot of pictures for a little while. It's very common in newborns.
