i am in need of pest control and I am worried if I go with terminex or a well known co I will be sold a plan I dont necessaraly need. i found some ants with wings in my bathroom I dont think its termites and i havent seen or had problems anywhere else. Is anyone else experiencing problems and if so who did you call?
we just had a guy come out and give us a quote to get our trees trimmed. One of the first things that he asked us was if we had ant problems, because apparently they climb down off of the trees and into your house.....i never even thought about that!

We had termites and after calling Terminex and getting an outrageous quote I read the responses here and called National Pest Management Tommy Everest ###-###-####. Mr. Everest was wonderful and reasonable he even sent a hand written thank you note after completing our treatment. Even if they don't end up being termites Mr. Everest will be honest about what needs to be done.

We found some winged ants in a windowsill of our first home. It's been a while,so I may be wrong, but I think they were carpenter ants. Fortunately we caught them before any damage was caused. We feel the same way about some of the larger pest control companies. We own a rental property and we had to find someone reliable that wouldn't talk us in to unnecessary treatments. I am not sure where you live, but we use Crown Pest Control, located in the Mid Cities area. We have used them for years and have always been happy. We use All Safe Pest control. We have a plan, so I don't know if they will try to sell you one or not. But I REALLY like our service. The guy who comes to our house is extremely nice and informative. I know that you don't want a plan, and normally I am not a big fan of them either. However, I signed up for one because I found I was spending more money on the ants, spiders, and other creepy crawlies sporadically rather than a plan every 3 months. They tend to come out much faster if you are on a plan and the extra visits don't cost a thing. Plus we did the termite protection since that seems to be a problem in our area. With all of our landscaping there is always something finding it's way into the house :o)
Termite swarmers do have wings; however, they are seen generally in the Spring. There are pictures on the internet so you can compare to the ones you have.
We have been very happy with Truly Nolen. We've had them for about 6 years now. They treat every 3 months and come out whenever I have a problem. We did have termites about 4 years ago, and we bought their termite contract at that time as well.

20-30 drops peppermint oil in 1 to 2 cups water. put in a spray bottle and spray the area. Nice minty smell and ants go away. Good luck! ~C.~
