It is recommended that proteins get introduced around 9 months and with eggs you start with just the yolk until around age 1 as the whites can be an allergen and the little ones need the fats.

And given the risk (however remote but as we've seen recently it can be very real) for salmonella you want to thoroughly cook any egg that you give to your little one.

I did wait to serve the whites until age 1, but more importantly make sure they are cooked!

I introduced eggs to my son at 10mths...and he really loved....my mother & mother in-law make him eggs all the time now...just using the egg whites though and a very tiny amount of butter for flavor! But I still think its better to ask your childs doctor first!

I started eggs around 10 months...as soon as she started enjoying "chunky" food. My daughter loved them scrambled. When she was really little, I'd just add a tad of milk and cook on low to make a 'pancake' then cut into more uniform pieces. Now that she is a little older, I just scramble and she eats the chunks.

We sometimes do boiled eggs, too, cut small, but the yolks can be messy as a fingerfood.

I never did all babyfood once she was out of the pureed stage and saved prepared babyfood for times when I really needed convenience. Obviously taking choking into consideration, I gave her mashed and pea-sized pieces of just regular food. Despite not starting her on solids until almost 6 months, by 8-9 months, she didn't want babyfood!

One other thing,,,there is not a history of food allergies in my family, so i was not concerned, but if there are, you may consult a doc and see what he/she recommends.

good luck!

You can introduce egg yolks as early as six months old if the baby can sit up and you serve it in tiny pieces so the baby doesn't choke on it. Some babies are allergic to egg whites. Egg yolks are fine. I used to make them hard boiled for my son. I would eat the white part and he would eat the yolk. Hard boiled eggs can stored in the fridge until served and can be eaten hot or cold but my husband would often reheat the yolk at lunchtime in an empty baby food jar in the bottle warmer because you can not microwave hard boiled eggs and I didn't want my son eating food heated in a microwave. Even as an infant, my son disliked meat so eggs were a great source of protein. I think you can cook it any way you like as long as you fully cook it.
