1.) Dr. Carrie Wijesinghe, Siena Pediatrics - liked her very much but her office won't be open until Jan 2007.
2.) Hesham A Sirsy, ABC Pediatrics - he seemed very knowledgeable both in pediatrics and ENT medicine but no longer affiliated with St. Rose where I am registered to deliver.
3.) Dr. Thanya Lee, Larsen Pediatrics – very nice office, she seemed approachable and nice but I felt she was still very young and still learning as she’s only been at this office for just a year. I haven’t yet met with Dr. Larsen, the owner of the practice, who was highly recommended by Dr. Carrie W (see above) to get a better "feel" for the quality of care.
4.) Dr. Stella Delgado-Almenario, Tri-Star Med - very nice and personable. She's by the shopping center on Wigwam and Pecos, near St. Thomas More church. She's a solo doctor who shares the office with another doctor who deals with adults. No separate waiting area for well or sick patients.
5) Dr. Edmund Faro, Foothills Pediatrics - nice and approachable. The office looks like a hospital from the 80's! The building is undergoing a construction facelift. It's a group practice with 3 office locations; 2 in Henderson and 1 in Summerlin. They are expanding and probably adding another office soon in the Southern Hills area. They have about 8 to 9 doctors total in the group. I plan to go visit the Eastern/St. Rose Pkwy.
6) Dr. Arezo Maria Fathie, Generations Medical Center (pediatrician/internist) also on Wigwam and Pecos (on the side of the ARCO gas station). Very nice and likes to spend time with her patients, maybe a bit too much which means you probably won’t see the doctor immediately. There’s no separate waiting area for well sick patients. She sees about 15 to 20 patients a day.
7) Dr. Dennis Richard Moore, Henderson Pediatrics, met with him and he's very nice and laid back. Unfortunately, NOT Board Certified and NOT affiliated with St. Rose Hospital. I spoke with Dr. Kulic, she said she was board certified but does not plan to do so because it's time and financially consuming (the test costs $3,000 and taken over 3 days). I went online to look into the board certification further. According to eMedicine.com it says "Board certification means...A physician who has successfully completed the requirements set forth by the board (of their specialty) may be granted a certificate and is known as a diplomate of the board. In the past, lifetime board certification was granted. However, during the last 10 years, most boards have changed in this regard. Physicians who have previously received board certification for life retain this right. However, newly certified physicians receive certificates that expire after a specified period, generally 10 years. To recertify in a specialty, the physician must take another examination, generally a written examination. Board certification does not guarantee good results or an absence of complications; although, it is a good indicator of training, competence, and experience. Board certification may be withdrawn for a number of reasons, but it is usually not withdrawn simply for losing a malpractice case." If a pediatrician is "board certified" they will have FAAP after their name along with MD. According to American Academy of Pediatrics, doctors who maintain their certifications continue to stay well educated about the latest in pediatric care and research as well are advocats for children's health and wellbeing within their communities.

8) Dr. J S Surpure, Children's Urgent Care, on Sunset Road in Henderson. They provide full services for pediatric and urgent care for children. Their website is http://www.childrensurgentcare.com/. The office is nice and clean and have separate waiting areas for well and sick kids. They also provide weekend hours. Awaiting a call back to schedule an appt.

I've been using Foothills Pediatrics since my 3 y.o. was born. I like Dr. Faro too. I also like Maloxi (sp?) and Mundi (also sp?) from the practice. I'm don't particularly like Conti. He's too impersonal and too free with the parenting advice (his parenting advice, frankly, offends me - I see no reason to let a baby scream itself to sleep regardless of his opinion on the subject). Fortunately, I like everyone else in the practice that I've seen. The St. Rose Siena office is much nicer than the Mt. Vista office. If Denise Moore is the same Denise Moore that used to work at Foothills Pediatrics,, I liked him too - although he was a little too "mainstream" (not particularly probreastfeeding and things like that) and free with the parenting advice too. But he is nice and approachable - and I don't necessarily seek parenting advice from my pediatrician. If you go back to Foothills, ask for Maloxi. She's great. Kind, considerate, caring, interested, down to earth.

The doctor we see wasn't listed, but I wanted to give you his name too.

We see Dr. Heath Hoddap at St. Rose Pediatrics. We were actually refered to him by our GP (whose daughter sees Dr. Hoddap) when we had our daughter since she can't do infants. He is wonderful and the office is great. We have been seen quickly every time we've been there and I've been able to get same day sick visits for my daughter and son with no problems, usually with Dr. Hoddap. We have also seen Dr. Winkler. They have a brand new building off of Eastern Ave and Sun Ridge Heights (just before Anthem).

Hope this helps,
M.

I personally have been with Dr. Larsen's office since my son was born 20 months ago. They are great. My son sees Dr. Larsen, but if she is not available they have squeezed me in with Dr. Lee (who is also good). When you call with a question someone is always available to answer it quickly. The nurse is usually always available or one of the Dr.'s will call you right back. Both Dr.'s are very caring and approachable. They both seem to listen to what you have to say. They have never made me feel like an idiot for asking a question. I have never felt rushed in the office. If you really need to get in that day, they fit you in. I have called when they aren't in the office a couple times and left a message with the answering and I got a call back from Dr. Larsen or Dr. Lee in 5 mins. They both really care about patients. The office is run really well. I think the most I have had to wait to see a Dr. is 15 minutes.

I tried taking my son to Foothill Pediatrics to see Dr. Conti once because it is a lot closer to my house. I will never go back. I had to wait over 2 hours to see the Dr. Finally, when I saw him he told me my son just had a cold. I took my son back to Dr. Larsen 2 days later because he wasn't any better and she told me he had a full blown ear infection that was somehow overlooked. So I would really consider meeting with Dr. Larsen if you haven't yet. I absolutely love her and I won't take my kids anywhere else.

Good luck in your search.

Hi D.! I chose Dr. Conti (Foothills Pediatrics) when I was pregnant with my first child. I interviewed him & loved him. When I gave birth, it was Dr. Faro that came to the hospital & I took an immediate liking to him. My daughter is now 2 years old and I have seen most of the Dr.'s in the practice (you don't get to pick which Dr. you see if you want in quickly for a "sick visit"). I have been happy with all the Dr.s, but Dr. Faro is definitely my favorite & I now request him for all my "well visits/check-ups".

I would highly recommend both Dr. Faro and Foothills Pediatrics in general. I have been to both of the Henderson locations and have been pleased with the office staff at both. They are always friendly & accomodating and have excellent office hours.

Hi D.! I personally had Dr. Levin through Henderson Pediatrics with my son when he was first born. Due to my insurance changing I had to leave that dr. But the office staff was always very nice and understanding of me being a first time mom, and not always knowing what was going on. Good luck in your search!

Hi! Just wanted to let you know I have taken my son to your number 8, Dr. Surpure when our regular Dr office is closed. The doctor is very friendly and spends a good amount of time answering questions. I use that office as an urgent care (only because it is far away from me) because they do have late hours and for some reason my son always gets sick after hours. The only thing I don't like about that office is the wait time. Usually we are one out of two people waiting to be seen and we always end up waiting for at least a half hour. Well hope that helps.

We saw Dr. Lee for the first time a few weeks ago and she seemed nice enough. I think I still liked Dr. Rutu Estruchzan (spelling might be off, sorry, baby's crying so I'm typing fast) at Southwest Medical better, but Dr. Lee was fine. I'd stick with Dr. E. if our new insurance allowed it, but it doesn't.

gotta run arrghh...
