Insane Neighbor!!!!!!!!!

There's this older guy who lives down the street from us. When we first moved in, we thought 'wow, he's kind of a good old buy, nice guy'.... NO he's just super annoying, nosey, and crazy!! He has these super creepy room mates in and out of his life (one of which I called the cops on because he walked INTO MY HOUSE drunk as hell demanding scotch!!!)... my landlord even called him and told him to stay away (he owns that house as well)... This guy walks his dogs in my yard every day, they poop everywhere, I'm always chasing this guy waving a plastic bag around like HERE YOU GO! CLEAN IT UP PLEASE!!... I mean, my kids walk through the yard every day to go to the bus stop. He lives on the corner of a 4 way intersection, there's NO reason he needs to come this way to walk his dogs. My fiance has told him (nicely) that he's a bother, and even told him (not so nicely) to stay away from our yard... this guy doesn't get it!! He puts his dogs inside my fenced in backyard if my dog is out there, WTH?! He's also superrr nosey... we have a screened in porch and he's always checking to see if we're out there. This guy isn't lonely, he's kind of crazy and really creepy! What else can we do?! I'm at my wits end with this guy. He's not listening to anyone :(

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks ladies!! Yeah, I guess calling the cops is my only option. I hate being 'that person' but this guy needs to GO AWAY. I'm positive he's harmless (he's pretty old and in bad shape... I know which leg has the fake hip, hello weak spot!!)... I called the landlord again and he's AWESOME... he's going to come to MY house tmrw to try to catch this guy in the act... he said, since he's already spoken to this guy about it, he's pissed he's not listening. If he catches him in the act he can evict him. BUH-BYE CREEP!

I used to confront and call the police. Then I realized how violent people can be. Since having kids, I avoid potential violence. I would move.
It is not fair to have to deal with this, but I would ask the landlord to let you out of the lease since you do not have a safe environment.

Take rabbit wire and attach it to the fence in the front to keep the dogs out-if that doesn't work-take aim.

For the dog, call the dog catcher, for the peeping Tom, call the police, for the dog poop, I would place it on his front porch. The drunk I would have called the police and had him arrested. This is not a good environment for your kids. I would even go as far as asking your landlord to kick him out of his house.

OOOH R.!!

YUCK!!! My neighborhood doesn't call me the nosy neighbor - but the "informed neighbor" - they know that I talk to all of our neighbors and such -I'm the one who organizes block parties, etc. and I have keys to 4 of the houses on our block (and NO - I don't snoop!!)

Any way - post NO TRESPASSING signs...i like that idea....is the landlord willing to put the "white picket fence" in the front yard to keep he and his dog out?

You are a VERY beautiful young lady - so maybe he's trying to get closer to you - I know - creepy - but still......

If he's not listening - talk to the landlord again.....maybe he can cancel his lease? Sounds like your landlord is trying to keep you safe!

Oh my goodness...

When I first read your post (quickly, I might add) I thought it said "this guy walks through my yard every day, they poop everywhere!" I was rolling.

I would say this is one for your husband to handle. Man to man. And I don't mean fist fight the guy, I am just saying that this is where it is advantageous having a man around!

Call the cops repeatedly if you have to. Something will happen eventually. I am so sorry you are dealing with this!

Well, if he puts his dogs in your yard again, call animal control and have them carted off to the pound.
If he is in your yard, you can call the cops. Maybe even put up a small "No Trespassing" sign. If he violates it, call the police (dispatch, not 911) and see if you can charge him with repeated trespassing (not sure if you can) or maybe get some sort of restraining order to keep him away from your house.
This doesn't sound like nothing. It would creep me out. I would make sure to keep all doors locked at all times, and really watch your kids outside. Something just doesn't feel right about it.
(If it were me, I'd have my former Marine brother come over and be there some time the guy shows up, and tell him if he keeps it up, my brother will deal with the situation ... he knows how to be very firm! ... do you have anybody like that who could be "threatening" in a defensive way?)

When he is in your yard tell him he is trespassing and that if he does it again you will call the police. Then call the police next time he comes on the property. A no trespassing sign so there is no doubt would be a good.
Pick up the dog poop, put it in a bag, and leave it at his house. So you aren't accused of trespassing or harassment, just leave it at the end of his driveway or something.
Next time his dog is in your yard call animal control. If it doesn't have a collar on, tell them it is a stray. If it has a collar tell them your neighbor abandoned the dog on your property and you want it removed.
If he is being creepy about watching y'all on your screened in porch call the police. Tell them what the guy is doing, that you are very disturbed by his ongoing actions, and ask for assistance.
Call the police every single time he does something illegal (trespassing, peeping tom, dog on your property). Eventually either he'll get the idea and stop or the police will get tired of it and arrest him.
Oh, and notify your landlord that you will be calling the police about this guy. Maybe the landlord can assist in getting the guy to stop or move.

Call your local Animal Control for the dog as many times as it takes for the guy to figure it out or until he gets tired of paying to get his dog released. When he allows his dog to defecate on your property and doesn't clean it up, call each and every time (I would actually call the non-emergency police number to find out who to call for this one). There are strict sanitary laws in place stating that dog owners must clean their own dog's pucky when it's not on their own private property and even when it IS on their own property.

You've let this guy know that he's not welcome on your property and he's basically been harassing you. He's even entered your home drunk. Again, call the police each and every time to have him removed. He's trespassing and peeping, not to mention likely drunk so maybe the police can get him on drunken disorderly and endangering minors.

Good luck on getting rid of the nuisance. I think it's going to take some time, but be consistent and patient. Work with authorities on this one.

Sounds like you are going to have to call the police. I would tell him (or have your husband tell him) and tell your landlord that the next time he comes on your property, you will call the police and then I would do it.

Call the cops if he comes onto your yard. OR you can call your landlord over and over until he handles it.

My neighbor, that lives below us, is NUTS.
I'm usually not afraid of people, but this guy creeps me the F out.

He's a big guy.
He goes through these spells of being nice, or being a complete %&$^.
He took his hard wood table that he has on his patio to our landlord and told her my husbands cigs burned a hole in his table. Right cause that's possible haha
Plus we ONLY put the cigs out in an ashtray. Sometimes he bangs on his ceiling and yells that we are being loud. I have a 2 y/o..come on now. Other days he says "I can never hear him, he's so quite"
He's offered to babysit...
When he talks to you he goes in and out of good moods.
Its really scary actually.

People can be amazing in a bad way, the no tresspassing sign will help and go to the police station and talk to someone there and ask to see if they can come and drive by more, explain to them what is going on and how you are feeling, scared for your and your childrens safety, ect. Sometimes you just have to deal with these types of people.
Call the land lord everytime he does something, you might get him to get kicked out be sure that you are not dealing with a company that takes care of the house but the actual owner.
I had to do that, the poeple that lived at the house owned a dog that they let run lose and came after own dog that was in the fence, I call the owners and right away the people lived there put the dog on the leach and things we better. Here in FL there is a leach law, check into it.
Our house and the the neibors house sit L shaped and they sit higher up than we do, so I can image what you are going though we stopped being nice and do not intract with them at all they are always asking us stuff and saying hi to our kids. but they are renting and we own so we have a little more leg to stand on.

His behavior is inappropriate but not threatening. He is not able to listen. It may be the only way he knows to interact with people or he may be bored - either is very unfortunate. Tell your children to watch where they step in the meantime. A few times of dog poo on their shoes and they'll pay more attention.

In any case, use or borrow a camcorder and film him. Make more than one film, entirely unedited, illustrating the different objectionable acts. In other words, catch him in the act. Make at least 2 copies of the films. You will want one in case anyone loses theirs as you will be giving the original to the police.

Then, check with an attorney and show the attorney the films. You can bring along your landlord who, it seems, is very cooperative and accommodating. Based on attorney advice, you can then file a police report.

You will have both film and landlord corroboration for your story. It should be easy to get a restraining order at that point. Once that's violated, further legal action (and hopefully treatment) can be obtained.
Good Luck!
