Inner Thigh Workout

3 months ago I started working out. About 6 weeks ago I got pretty serious about my beach body...so I started getting a lot more consistent with my workouts. Monday, Wednesday,Friday, and occationally Sundays I do squats, lunges, lateral raises (stand straight, balance on one leg, raise other leg straight out to the side over and over and over), and calf raises. Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and occationally Sundays I do a 30 min ab workout. Every day I work out I do an additional 15min lateral and calf raises. Not to mention chasing after my 21mo old son. hehehe

After tha last couple of months with this routine my legs and abs are looking really awesome, BUT....Still feeling a lot of flab, and not seeing results in the inner thigh...Is there a inner thigh workout that I can add to my routine? I have an exercise ball and ankle weights.

Also just want to add...I eat pretty healthy. I cook almost all my meals, not much in the way of processed foods, lots of fruits, veggies. Not much carbs, whole grains, and only animal based protein one meal a day. No soda, very little sweets (YAY I've beat the cravings!!).Lots of milk (1%) and water.

Thanks for all the tips!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

This morning I added two pilates routines to my workout, and I'm looking into HIIT workouts. Probably I'm going to play around with what I want to do and add the HIIT to my routine next week. I wanted to get into some cardio but was having a hard time finding what I wanted...so looks like I'm going to get started. THANK YOU so much for all your advice and help. This has really given me the confidence and motivation boost I was looking for!!

That is my problem area too. It is where females often store our fat. Leg raises are great. Try lying on your side and placing the top leg, knee bent in front of your bottom leg. Hold your ankle (if you want) and raise the lower leg. You can add ankle weights but I would encourage more reps rather than weights. Also doing squats with you toes pointed out and pushing up with your heels (this one hurts my hip so I don't do it but my friend does it).

Overall weight loss is the best way to get rid of a problem area. It may be the last area to go. Good luck with your workouts.

Add cardio - HIITs twice a week. HIITs are high intensity interval training (google it).

You cannot spot target or train a certain area. I would avoid doing a lot of targeted lifting in the inner thigh area. Why? What happens when you lift? Your muscles get bigger. The 'flab' is likely from nutrition and cardio. Be patient because with time the area should improve.

unfortunately you (or anyone for that matter) cannot target where they burn fat. It goes when it goes. Id trade you my stubborn belly fat for your thigh fat anyday.:). But there are workouts you can do on that inner thigh to tone the muscle, the good news is they are totally laying down so you dont have to take your workout time doing them, you can do them in bed or on the couch. I know of two different ones but they are very hard to explain. I would google "pilates-inner thighs"

Get a pilates ring. use it between the thighs like the Susanne Summers thing--only you can do so much more with it. It is very important to work the IT band up the outside of the upper leg. Sit and squeeze the ring between the thighs, then put your legs inside and press out against it. There are lots of other exercises you can use it for.

Get a Thigh Master!! They are available on Suzzanne Somers.com , I got one in the early '90's and I love it. Not only can you work on your thighs but most other areas too. My daughter go me a new one from a different site and it's not as good so be sure you get the orginal.

You probably need to add cardio. That along with building muscle like you are doing, is what will burn fat. Sometimes you have to change up and amp up your workout to get those last few areas. I've been watching some of the Biggest Loser workouts on my on demand channel and they are awesome and it's free to boot!
