Ink on an American Girl Doll

My daughter JUST got an American Girl Doll for Christmas. Somehow it has gotten a bit of ink on it's face. I have no idea what I can use to take it off that won't harm the doll's face. It's one of those Just Like Me dolls. The ink is on it's cheek. My daughter is absolutely devastated. Any suggestions?

What can I do next?

It will come off, I promise! We got permanent marker off of the face, so pen should come off just fine.

Try some rubbing alcohol, it usually takes ink off of anything. If that doesn't work, baking soda and water. You might have to scrub a little bit, just don't use anything too rough. It should come off!

Be very careful NOT to get any liquid in the eyes. They can rust inside and then they won't open and shut. It's best to cover the eyes with a towel and rubber band it to the head. We do this when we're giving the dolls a hair wash.

I've used Mr Clean erasers before on some of my childhood dolls and on many of my children's toys. Be careful to not use a lot of water, have a towel to wipe it dry immediately and don't get it on the painted on features because on some dolls it can take them off. I don't have an AG dolls so I don't know how their features are on.

I'd try the suggestions below, specifically rubbing with baking soda, using rubbing alcohol and the Magic Eraser. I have a few American Girl Dolls I've rescued as well as a My Twinn. Just go slowly and see what works best. Use the suggestion to protect the eyes too. If it rubs off cheek color or freckles you can either be brave and try to repaint them using either acrylic craft paint, shalk for the blush or I've even used colored pencils to draw eyebrows. Worse case scenario is a trip to the AG Hospital. Their customer service is excellant!

If nothing else works you can send her doll to the American girl doll hospital, I am sure they can help if it doesn't come off any other way. I think there is a fee though. I had to send two of my American girl dolls there and it wasn't a long wait at all (it was 10 years ago though), they came back in a cute hospital gown all better. Good luck.
