Hi Ladies,
I was wondering what your take is on Infants Tylenol or Motrin? Tylenol does not seem to work, but it is always recommended. I mostly use the highlands teething tablets, but that is sometimes not good enough. My 10.5 month old daughter is having a hard time with her teething, I also use the cold teething rings and the wet washcloth(she enjoys that the most). I was thinking of trying motrin but I wanted your opinions first.

Thank You for all your advice. I used motrin and what a world of difference. I don't like medicating, but I just didn't want her to suffer. Thanks once again to all of you in this great community.
hi C., since she like the wet was cloth so much, give her that but put crushed ice in it that she can chew on, put a rubber band around the cloth to hold the ice in. i didn't like medicating my kids, so I rubber the infast tylenol directly on their gums, that seemed to sooth my kids, one more this i did, freeze a spoon, and message her gums with it. J., mom for 24 yeras.
I have better luck with Motrin. My ped said it works better and lasts longer. So, if Tylenol isn't working, I'd try Motrin!!
what i have heard is that motrin is best for pain and tylenol for a fever. the teething drops only last for a few minutes. i used the gentle naturals teething drops with my daughter and hber teething got so bad i was having to give her tylenol every 4 hours. good luck and maybe try the drops they were a life saver for me!
I am going to have to go with the rest of them. Motrin is the way to go! It does last longer and works faster. Much more effective. Not all kids are the same though and some kids just respond better to one or the other. What I do with my boys is I start with Motrin and if it doesn't seem to be helping (for fever or pain) you can then give them tylenol right away. You can double up on those two medicines it is safe. Just make sure you keep tabs on what you are giving and when. Tylenol is every four hours and Motrin is every 6 hours. You can give tylenol and then anytime later give Motrin and keep stagering them as symptoms arise, just keep a log on the time frames. Good Luck! :)

Either is ok to use... Tylenol (acetaminophen) is gentler on the tummy than Motrin (Ibuprofen) but it's true that Motrin does work faster. So as long as you stick to the right dosage for her age/weight, it doesn't hurt to try and see if it works for her.

Hi There, I'm not a huge fan of medicating babies, so I tend to stick to the heomeopathic remedies and I get a teething gel called Bonjela from the UK which has worked better for my daughter than the Ora-gel. Does your daughter have one of those infant finger toothbrushes? I just got into using it. Keep it in the fridge, before bathtime (as she gets real drooly) put a bit of teething gel on it and gentle brush and massage the gums with it...WOW it works wonders, and it gets them in a good habit of teeth brushing for later on. Try it, could be good.
I have three kids and prefer the motrin! The only thing I will warn you about is that two of my kids get a bit hyper on motrin! So the first time you try motrin with you baby do NOT give it to her right before bed! I know now that this is common in some kids, so I will use motrin with these two all day for pain/fever but will use Tylenol at night. But again during the day try to stay away from medicating her as much as possible, stick with the frozen wash clothes and hugs.
