I am looking for a great in home daycare that I can take a 5 month old to. I have found tons of actual centers that are super expensive and I want my son to have the social interaction, but I don't want to pay a fortune and I do have to go back to work eventually. It is really hard to research home daycares because there are so many of them, but I am hoping that someone out there can give me some referrals based on actual experience and interaction you may have had with an in home provider in Olathe, or Overland Park, Ks. Thanks in advance!!

What can I do next?

Here is a website you can look at, they have registered and licensed home daycare listings. All you do is give them the zip code you need childcare in and they send you a list of caregivers. Always interview, and I would only use a licensed daycare. Licensed daycares can and will be checked on by the state unannouced! Registered daycares do not get checked on until there has been a complaint made against them. (I was told this by someone who has been through all the steps to open a home daycare)
Hope this helps!

A., I know someone who does it, but you may have to call and see if she has openings. She lives in the vicinity of Olathe South High School if you are familiar with the area. Her name is Sandy Sands, ###-###-####. Her daughter Terri used to babysit my kids several years back, and came to my home everyday for probably 2 years. She was the best babysitter I ever had. She played with the kids and even remembered their birthdays and was always bringing them stuff to put a smile on their faces. Well, Terri is married now and has kids of her own, so she started a daycare with her mom Sandy, out of Sandy's house. Also, Sandy was the nursery coordinator at our church for years. They are very lovely people. Good luck!!!

I agree with the other poster to use Day Care Connection. And just to add to what she put. The state of Kansas no longer allows Registered daycare, this past summer they past a law giving all registered providers a specific time frame to get licensed or close. So that is one less thing that you will need to worry about. I am licensed and go through Day Care Connection to find kiddos when I have openings and they let you look for what you want, pets/no pets etc.. Good Luck!!!
